After all figures have been set, including acknowledgement, the selected time stops
flashing in the display. You can only quit the menu command and release the time set-
tings into the integrated clock by pressing the

It is often helpful to set a time which will be correct slightly later than the time at which
the setting is carried out. This enables exact synchronisation between the integrated clock
and a time reference.

NOTE
If an incorrect time is entered, the restricted number of buttons does not allow this
process to be broken off. If this is the case, you must complete entering the incor-
rect value and then use the "set time" menu command to enter the correct entry

5.1.5 Overtemperature check

The Barkey autocontrol 3XPT is fitted with two independent mechanisms to protect it
from high temperatures.
One of these is the software overtemperature protection. In this case, the software con-
tinuously monitors the temperature at the heating devices connected. When the measured
temperature exceeds that of the setpoint by a specified value, the heating will be perma-
nently switched off.
The other method is an independent temperature sensor which is fitted to every heating
device. This sensor is continually monitored by the electronic system. If the fixed set
temperature is exceeded, the heater will be switched off permanently.
An error number is displayed at the same time that the heating is switched off. The device
can only be switched to normal operating mode after error recognition by switching it off
and on again.
► The serial number from Adapter 2 (overtemperature test) used must be entered in the
inspection log.
► Software overtemperature triggering channel 1:
the rotary knob for temperature settings (temperature) must be turned completely to
the left (anticlockwise) at adapter 2.
Then adapter 2 must be plugged into the controller channel 1.
Switch the Barkey autocontrol 3XPT to normal operating mode.
After around five seconds, the controller part for channel 1 shows a temperature of
around 38°C ± 1 K. The LED for heating must illuminate on adapter 2.
Now turn the rotary knob for temperature settings slowly to the right. The temperature
displayed will slowly rise. The LED for heating should be flashing if the temperature
display rises above 39 °C.
The more the temperature rises, the more rapid the display flashes. The LED is turned
off above a temperature of 40 °C.
Now turn the rotary knob for temperature settings slowly to the right once more.
When the temperature reaches 41 °C, the red "error" LED should be illuminated and
the display should be showing error number 104. If this is the case, the software
overtemperature trigger is working correctly.
The results of the software overtemperature inspection must be entered in the inspec-
tion log.
The Barkey autocontrol 3XPT must be switched off to reset the error display.

6.7 Cleaning the ventilator

Dust deposits can build up over the ventilator and ventilation openings due to dust parti-
cles in the surrounding air. The ventilation openings for air entry are underneath the de-
vice. The ventilation openings for air discharge are in the handle recess. These can be
blocked by dust deposits forming on the ventilator. If air circulation is restricted by dust
deposits or blocked ventilation, the housing can be excessively heated. If the temperature
in the housing rises to steeply, the electronics system switches off automatically. This
condition is shown as an error (error number: 74). This error does not lead to damage to
the electronic system. It also does not cause any hazard.
The housing has to be opened up in order to clean the ventilation openings or the ventila-
tor. (see chapter 6.2 )
Components can then be cleaned using a Q-tip or compressed air. Ensure that no dust
particles lodge themselves between the display and the front screen.
6.8 Replacing the batteries
The battery must be replaced every three years. To do this, unscrew the housing (see
chapter 6.2 ).
A lithium battery of type CR 1225 (3V/48 mAh) is required.
The battery can be removed or replaced in the battery holder without tools.
The time and date must be reset after replacing the batteries (see chapter 3.5 3.6). The
language required must also be reselected for the particular user. (see chapter 3.13 )

NOTE
Old batteries must not be disposed of in domestic waste. Please take old batteries
back to the correct collection points or send them back to the manufacturer.

6.9 Replacing the microcontroller in the autocontrol 3XPT

All work on the electronics system must be carried out in an electrostatic discharge-
protected workstation.
Special removal tools are available for electronic components in the PLCC housing. To
avoid damage to the microcontroller and the IC pedestal, the microcontroller may only be
removed using a special removal tool.
The position of the microcontroller on the IC pedestal is predefined by the bevelled corner
on both components. This makes incorrect positioning almost impossible.

Bevelled corner

Figure 47: positioning the PLCC pedestal and microcontroller

The microcontroller has been placed in the right position on the IC pedestal. It may only
be pressed into the pedestal when it is straight and centrally positioned from all sides.
After the microcontroller has been replaced, the first controller start-up must take place by
calling up the "service menu". This can be quit directly by pressing the end button.
