CVE 334/336 – Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures/Detailing

Answer All.

1. For the slab shown in Fig. Q1,

a) Determine the ultimate loads for any slab panel
b) Using the ultimate loads of 1a above, analyse the slab panel to evaluate the bending moments and
shear forces
c) Draw the bending moment and shear force diagrams
d) Design the reinforcements in the analysed slab panel
e) Check for deflections, cracking, and shear
f) Sketch the reinforcements in 1d above

2. For any internal or external beams of the drawing shown in Fig. Q1, using the ultimate load obtained
from the slab panel;
a) Evaluate the ultimate load required for the analysis of the internal or external beam including the
weight of blocks
b) Using the ultimate load of 2a above, evaluate the bending moment and shear forces of internal or
external beam
c) Draw the bending moment and shear force diagrams
d) Design the reinforcements in the analysed beams including shear reinforcements
e) Check for the deflections, cracking and shear
f) Sketch the reinforcements designed in 2d above

3. The analyses of the columns gave the results;

(a) Column A1 = Load = 650KN

Mx-x = 300KN.m
My-y = 150KN.m

(b) Column A2 = Load = 1950KN

(c) Column B2 = Load = 400KN

Mx-x =300KN.m

4. Design the pad footings of column A2 and B2 with the total service loads of 1000KN dead load and
400KN imposed load (for A2) and 900KN dead load and 350KN imposed loads (for B2) take the safe
bearing capacity as 200KN/m2.

5. Provide the structural detailing of all your structural designs
