CHAIRMAN OPENING SPEECH FOR (NAME OF SCHOOL) END OF

SESSION PARTY AND GRADUATION CEREMONY

Good morning,
All honor’s and adorations are due to the one and only Almighty God. He is the
first without a beginning and the last without an end. In Him we live, eat, sleep and
have our being, and without Him we can do nothing.
Distinguished guests, school stakeholders, parents at large, ladies and gentlemen. It
is with much delight I welcome you all to this occasion. In the same breath, I
congratulate the grandaunts of today’s occasion.
This occasion marks such a great day in the history of the school having produced
future leaders of tomorrow who have taken a step further in their academic pursue.
To the school, it is a mark of growth as we have nurtured and equipped the
children over the years and we are confident we are releasing pupils who are
morally faultless, academically impeccable and religiously upright who will make
a positive impact to the society.
It will be an aberration if I fail to appreciate the teachers and other school
stakeholders who have one way or the other make today a reality. Teachers’ efforts
aren’t commensurate to the reward they are given in this society of ours yet they
leave no stone unturned in nurturing our children. Dear teachers, do remember the
best of those who reward is the Almighty God and He will never deny you of your
reward accordingly even from where you do not expect.
To the parents, you are the backbone of this institution; I won’t fail to appreciate
you all for standing with the school through thick and thin with your support
despite the non-friendly situation of the economy.
The school has been a lime-light in this our community. It has been a path for
children to take to achieve a greater height. We are in a world of moral decadence,
where society is found wanting and dangling between moral laxities which were
squalor by societal imperialism. The school has made effort in ensuring all these
are balanced because a society where professionals are nurtured without moral
excellence will be built on wrong foundation.
Dear parents, I will advise us to please assist the school within our possible best to
achieve their set aim and objectives for our children. Among this of top priority is
prompt payment of our children’s school fees as a wise Yoruba adage says “owo ni
keke eyin rere” (money is the driving factor of a good establishment). Let’s
support the school also by monitoring our children affairs while they are away
from school at home by being their mentor and a good role model. Let’s engage
them in their academics at home by putting more interest in their school
homework, weekend assessment and other curriculum.
To the school teachers and other stakeholders, let’s intensify more on our effort
towards these children. A wise adage says “If you give a man a fish, he will eat a
single fish but if you teach him how to fish, he will eat fishes throughout his
life”. Let’s imbibe more practical approach and Montessori methods in nurturing
these future leaders. Extra-curriculum activities should also be included in their
school schedules as goes by the popular saying “all work no play makes Jack a
dull boy”.
Let us all remember the quote which goes by “All of you are shepherd and will
held accountable over your flock”. These children are still young, they look into
we the parents, teachers, guardians, etc as their mirror to see the world. Let us all
be good role model to them. We should remember the Yoruba wise adage which
says “ti okete ba dagba omu omo re niimu” (if a man becomes old and
lethargic, he is being taken care of by the children he nurtured. Let’s nurture
good values into these children so we may enjoy them to take care of us at our old
age.
Lastly, I thank you all who have one way or the other make the light of this day a
reality and success. Thank you for your cooperation and thank you for giving me
the privilege for this presentation.
