COMMISSIONING PROCEDURE
1.0 TITLE
Procedure for boiler feedwater pump start up.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure covers boiler feedwater pump start up.
3.0 REFERENCE
PUMP OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL.
5.3 The pump that pumping the fluid temperature above 120°C must be pre-heated before
operation in order to prevent thermal deformation to result in part wear out or
damage.
5.4 Make sure that lubricating oil system and seal flushing pipe line is connected, and fit
and operation is ready.
5.5 Check all auxiliary (such as indicator, oil filter, heat exchanger control panel,
terminal box motor, auxiliary pump and valve in safe condition.
COMMISSIONING PROCEDURE
6.1 Start auxiliary lubricating oil pump, make sure one of the spare pump stand by for
emergency case and check level of oil tank.
6.3 Observe the lubricating oil tank level from sight glass (the lubricating oil level should
be between the minimum and the maximum graduation of sight glass).
6.4 Inspect the pump, driver (including motor and coupler and pipe line).
6.5 When the auxiliaries pump running, in order to make pump internal parts fully
lubricate, must be procedure enough differential pressure, if a sharp decrease in
discharge pressure generally means that the system which supplied fluid to pump
with failure (the fluid in pump generate vaporization). The pump will be stop if :
The temperature of lubricating oil that flow in to thrust bearing exceeds allowed
value.
Clutch malfunction.
6.8 Be sure to full fill seal flushing liquid in order to prevent pump and seal part
damaged.

COMMISSIONING PROCEDURE
6.9 Be sure to make sufficient cooling water circulating in heat exchanger and seal
casing.
7.1 Inspection and local adjusting for all valves open or close position.
7.3 Hand valve (manual valve) limit switch should be ready indication if not pump
cannot run.
7.4 Feedwater pump motor winding temperature < 140°C if not above pump cannot run.
7.5 Feedwater pump bearing temperature < 80°C if not above pump cannot run.
7.6 Suction strainer differential press < 0.5 bar if not above pump cannot run.
7.7 After all step above available; the feed water pump is normally running. Before
motor start makes sure that the motor current is not high, after motor current is
normal, open pump discharge valve slowly.
7.8 After pump running 10 – 15 minutes, inspect leakage around the seal sleeve, pump
equipped with mechanical seal should not have obvious leakage.
8.3 Feed water pump motor driving and bearing temperature 75 °C.
8.4 Feed water motor stator winding U1/V1/W1 temperature 150 °C.
COMMISSIONING PROCEDURE
8.9 Feed water pump lube pressure low 0.08 – 0.15 MPa
9.2.5 Oil cooler inlet oil temperature high > 95 °C), or lube oil cooler outlet oil
temp high > 65 °C.
COMMISSIONING PROCEDURE
10.1.3 Feedwater pump outlet valve closed or feed water pump hot standby .
10.1.5 Coupling in the smallest location or feed water pump hot stand by.
10.2.1 Close feed water pump outlet valve, desuperheater water valve.
10.2.2 Start feed water pump auxiliary oil pump, to make coupling in the smallest
location, meanwhile to sent the signal to MCS.
10.2.6 Release the scoop of the hydraulic coupling, meanwhile to sent the signal to
MCS.
Stop permission condition: this feed water pump is running and the programmable
start of this feed water pump is not being done.
ADHI - JEPOE JO
COMMISSIONING PROCEDURE
10.3.1 Step 1 to start feed water pump auxiliary oil pump, coupling location < 5 %
meanwhile to sent the signal to MCS.
10.3.2 Step 2 to close feed water pump outlet valve, de-temp water valve.
For two feed water pumps, one running and one stand by, feed water pump outlet main pipe
pressure low (10LAB50CP001 / 10 LAB50CP002) or working pump fault trip, to interlocked
start the stand by pump.
When working pump is running and feed water pump interlock is input. Stand by pump
outlet valve. Desuperheater water valve are automatically opened. Auxiliary oil pump puts
into operation and other pump is at stand by condition. When the start permission of the
stand by pump is invalid, the water pump interlock is cut off.
