    This SOP is for change over procedure of lube oil cooler A & B.

    2. Scope:
    This SOP is applicable for change over procedure of lube oil
    cooler A & B.

    3. Responsibility :
    Unit Control Engineer, Field Engineer and Desk Engineer

    4. Safety PPE’s:
    Ear Plugs, Safety Goggles, Hand Gloves, etc.

    5. Safety Precaution During operation

    Ensure no permit to work is pending on regarding this system


    by checking with EE/FE.

    6. Brief Description Of The System

    Turbine has 2 No of lube oil coolers. One is in service and other


    is standby. Extreme care is required during lube oil cooler
    changeover, when turbine is in service. Any pressure drop will
    leads to turbine trip.

    7. Operating Procedure
    Change over Procedure from A to B
    1. Ensure there is no permit on cooler B.
    2. Ensure cooler-B oil inlet drain is closed.
    3. Crack open the oil inlet vent.
    4. Slowly open the equalizing valve.
    5. Close the vent after oil came out of vent.
    6. Slowly open cooler-B DMCW outlet valve.
    7. Slowly open cooler-B DMCW inlet valve.
    8. Rotate large hand wheel, of change over valve,
    anticlockwise till it rotates freely.
    9. Rotate small hand wheel , of change over valve ,
    clockwise to 90 deg. ( Till it rotates freely )

    10. Ensure the arrow towards the coolers is towards


    cooler-B.
    11. Rotate large hand wheel, of change over valve,
    clockwise till it rotates freely to lock the valve towards
    cooler-B.
    12. Observe lube oil pressure and temperature
    13. Close cooler-A DMCW inlet valve.
    14. Close cooler-A DMCW outlet valve.
    15. Close oil side equalizing valve.
    Change over from B TO A
    16. Ensure there is NO permit on cooler-A
    17. Ensure cooler-A oil inlet drain is closed.
    18. Slowly open the equalising valve.
    19. Close the vent after oil came out of vent.
    20. Crack open the oil inlet vent.
    21. Slowly open cooler-A DMCW inlet valve.
    22. Slowly open cooler-A DMCW outlet valve.
    23. Rotate large hand wheel, of change over valve,
    anticlockwise till it rotates freely.
    24. Rotate small hand wheel , of change over valve ,
    Anti clockwise to 90 deg. ( Till it rotates freely )
    25. Ensure the arrow towards the coolers is towards
    cooler-A.
    26. Rotate large hand wheel, of change over valve ,
    clockwise till it rotates freely to lock the valve towards
    cooler-A
    27. Observe lube oil pressure and temperature.
    28. Close cooler-B DMCW outlet valve.
    29. Close cooler-B DMCW inlet valve.
    30. Close oil side equalising valve.
