The Brief:
At the heart of all music technology is performance. For many music

producers the performance begins with using a MIDI keyboard, but will
continue with the adding of effects and final mixing. Begin to develop
your own performance skills by researching areas of popular music and
by applying the principles of basic sound recording.
Task 1 - Create recordings using Logic X.
The recordings must include at least one completed solo music recording,
and one group podcast recording. Groups will be given their own podcast
theme. Sub-sections of the group will work on specific topics within the
theme.
Task 2 – Present your work using a website template and evaluate the
process.
Evidence of working towards:
1. Audio recordings (one solo music recording no less than 2 min, and
one group podcast)
2. A completed website will cover all of the assessment criteria through

the following page headings:
Research
What research did you undertake? How was this used? (All your research, with referencing if
applicable, should be presented. Each part of the research should have clear indication as to how
and where it was used, and how effective it was).
Planning And Production

What were your main objectives? What was the timescale for potential achievments? Was your
planning realistic?
Practical Skills and Presentation

What skills and knowledge did you demonstrate throughout the process? (This could take the
form of a ‘how-to’ guide. Use diagrams and easy to follow instructions on how you have used
particular software and other recording techniques).
Evaluation and Reflection

How did evaluation allow you to progress throughout the process? (Evaluations of projects are
not only required at the end of a process. Continual analysis should take place in order to inform
each new phase. Ask ‘how can I achieve better results?’).

validate the submission.
