Step 1 : Pre Activity (warm up)
T : assalamualaikum students
S : waalaikumussalam ms
T : how is life today ?
S : we rae fine, and what about you ms ?
T : I’m very well thank you. I’m okay because I meet you all. ( Prok prok ). Okay before we begin
our lesson let’s pray together.
T : who is absent today ? Is he ill ? Oh okay
T : I wanna ask you one question, what will you do in your holiday ? do you have some place that
that you really want to visit ?
S : I want to go to japan
T : wuahh that’s good,
S : I usually go to my grandma’s hous on my holiday
T : oww visiting grandma is also a good plan to spent holiday. Oke now look a head to the
whiteboard, do you see a picture ? what is this ? anybody know ?
S : toba lake
T : that’s right, this is Toba Lake. Where is this place exactly comefrom ?
S ; Medan ms
T : oke that;s right. Let’s see next picture.
S : monas
T : true, and what is this ? anybody know ? or anybody has been there ? oke if you don’t know, this
is Gumul that placed in Kediri. Oke these are some places that maybe some of you has visited in
holiday or even you don’t know before. Now I’ll show you some conversation about how to tell
holiday experience. What did you do when you have a holiday ? where do you like to spend your
holidays ? etc

Step 2 : While Activity (presentation)

T : did you all get the paper ? okay now please read the conversation and practice it with your
seatmate.

T : finish ? okay now who want to practice the conversation in front of class ? Nino please and
Fransisca. (selesai mereka baca) thankyou Fransisca and Nino. Give applause for them.

T : now please pay attention to your paper and the conversation, and mention the idioms that use to
tell holiday experience.

-have a whale of time = to enjoy your self very much ex : last year I was in newyork during
Christmas and New year. It was a wonderful time. I had a whale of time.

- jut what the doctor ordered = exactly what is wanted or needed ex : vacations should always be
just what the doctor ordered.

- short break = a specific time dedicated to pleasure and rest, especially when pay is granted to an
employee. Ex : I need a short break to de-stress my self.
T ; that’s all the idioms contain in the conversation you read, (Tanya artinya trus kasih contoh).
Now I’ll give you some idioms that you can use to tell holiday or your travel experience.

-red eye = flight that leaves at night to arrive early the next morning. Ex : next week I’m taking the
red eye because it was cheaper.

Off the beaten track = in place where few people go, far from an main roads and towns. Ex : I
prefer having holiday in places off the beaten track

The time of your life = an extremely enjoyable experience. Ex : we can say we had the time of our
lives during we go to France last week.

T : okay now let see some phrases, vocabulary and expression usually use to tell or to ask holiday
experience. Anybody can tell me example of phrases, vocabulary and expression usually use to tell
or to ask holiday ?

T : oke sara

Sara : how do you feel after a long vacation ?

T : oke good sara, ells ? oke cyntia

Cyntia : how many days was your vacation ? did you have any bad experience ?

Bama : where do you stay when you go travel ? how much money do you spend ?

T : how much money do you spend, okay but it was little bit sensitive yah.

- Students are given the example of how to tell holiday experience.


- The students are asked to analyzed the expression of how to tell holiday experience.
- The students are given time to practice the idioms of how to tell holiday experience with their
seatmate.
- The students are asked on their comprehension and the new vocabularies based on the dialogue.
- The students are given a few minute to think about the topic.

T : now please make group consist of two people, you can go with your seatmate or you can choose
another person, up to you. What you have to do is please discuss more with your group how to tell
the holiday experience perfectly and please prepare the conversation as I give you before using the
idioms that we have learned, you don’t have to use all 3 or four it’s enough. It’s up to you you
wanna write it on paper or in your brain. But before you do it do you know what tense is use to tell
vacation experience ?

S : simple past tense ms

T : only simple pasr tense ? (gada yg jawab) okay we use simple past, past perfect, past perfect
continuous, and past continuous tense.
Example : this year my family and I went to bali for a week. I was so much fun. We traveled
around the island and ate lots of delicious food.

T : I think you are all have understand about this, you can begin to do your work with your group.

Activity 1 (practice)
- The students are asked to work in their group that consist of two or four people.
- The students work in their group to discuss the dialogue how to tell the holiday experience.
- The students are asked to do conversation with their groups member and perform in front of class.
- The students are evaluated of their speaking ability that consist of pronunciation, fluency and
comprehensibility.

Activity 2 (practice)
- The students are asked to make their own version about how to tell their experience during
holiday, using idioms and vocabularies they have learnt.
- The students perform with their friends in front of the class in a counting time.
- The students give some comments for their friends about their performance.

T : finish all ? sadza finish ? yoxa finish ? oke now each group will perform you work in front of
class.

T : oke excellent for you all.

Closing
T : boy and girls you have done a great job today. So lets give applause for you all. Your
pronunciation is also has improved, and the most fantastic is you all are confident to talk, to
participate in class. I hope you will improve your speaking skill constantly by practice it
continuously. You will never able to speak fluently if you don’t even speak. Understand all ? any
question ? if no lets close our lesson by alhamdalah.

Step 3 : Post Activity


- The students are given comments, suggestion, and evaluate from the teacher related to their
performance that consist of pronunciation, fluency and comprehensibility.
- The students are asked what they have studied.
- The students are asked to make conclusion about the expression of how to tell holiday experience
(grammar, vocabulary, idioms).
- End the class after the teacher answer the questions.

Assessment
- Student perform an structured dialogue using the cues and vocabulary.
- Student read or do the conversation with good pronunciation.
- Student participate actively in expressing opinion.
