(1) Stewards, Cooks, etc., attending on passengers, aDd Passengers' Servants are not part ofthe Crew foi whom

A dispensary, surgery or hospital for the exclusive use ofthe Crew may be deducted.
(2) The accommodation for the Pilot, Purser, Clerk, etr., is not to be included in this deduction.
(3) The deduction of Doctors' cabins is subject to the condition that they must be actually occupied by the Doctor6.
(4) The following spaces may be deducted:- A mess'room, if there is any, for the exclusive use of the officers; a
second mess.room, ifthere is any, for the exclusive use ofthe enBineers; and a third mess'room, ifthere is
any, for the exclusive use of the petty officers.
No deduction is allowed fot the officers' mess_room ill ships having passenger accommodation, whlch are not
also provided with a passengera' mess'room-
(5) Where a one-berth cabin is provided solely for the accommodation ofa pilot, the existence ofsuch a room,
although not itselfeligible for deduction, shall not cause the disallowance ofthe officera' mess'room,
bathroom, w.C., etc., as would be the case if the rooh were intended for the use of a paasenger'
(6) The Captain's accommodation comprising rooms certifred for his exclusive use may be deducted. Carriage of
merchandise ir the Captain's rooms will fodeit their deduction.
(?) All spaces fitted as bathrooms, or lavatories, for the exclusive use ofthe Master, ship's officers, engineers, and
crew, may be deducted, with the exception ofsuch of the said bathroohs as are available for passengers when
no bathroom for their exclusive use is provided.
(8) Deduction6 may be made for the spaces occupied by the laundry, refigerating machinery, ventllating,
disinfecting and distilling apparatus provided that they are certifred for the exclusive use ofthe crew and that
the spaces containing them are solely occupied by them. Cold storage rooms shall not be considered as
reft igerating machinery.
(s) All spaces specially provided for the storage ofsearch lights, and for the wireless t€legraphy installation may
be deducted on condition that they are situated on the upper deck.
(10) Fire-fighting personnel are deductible, this item may include night-wat4hmen or patrolmen, who are signed
on the articles, and have no duties in connection with passenBers or cargo.Fire'frghtifig plant or apparatus is
deductible even ifsituated below the uppermost deck.
N.B.- The deduction ofthe spaces mentioned above is subject to the condition that they are clearly and permanently
marked so as to show the purpose for which they are exclusively appropriated
(11) The deductions in the ag8regate must not exceed ten per cent. ofthe entire Gross Tonnage ofthe Ship, and so
soon as any stores or cargo are carned in or passenBers are berthed or accommodated in any ofthe spaces
deducted the whole of the deduction in respect of the particular space will be permanently disallowed.
