Highlights of the Activity & The activity started with a prayer through video presetation .This was followed
Discussions by the Philippine National Anthem through video presentation. Mrs. Ana Liza
E.Rubillos Grade 4- Love Teacher conducted the Roll Call. A welcome
message was given by Mrs. Rosaro Pole, Grade 1- Joy adviser. Mr. Mario R.
Raiz, Principal II oF Atabay Elementary School Read the statement of
purpose. Mrs. Manlyn Z Lina discussed about Strategies in Promoting
Literacy and numeracy.
Essential Components of Proven Reading Activities
Oral Language – refers to the knowledge and use of the structure
and uses of the language of literacy.
Examples:
 Story reading activities
 Poems
 Jingles
 Dramatization
Working with rhymes. Words, syllables, and onsets and rimes.
Examples:
 Students listen to determine if two words begin or
end with the same sound. (discriminating)
 Students clap the number of words in a sentence,
syllables in a word, sound in a word. (counting)
 Students create tongue twisters “Sally’s silly shoe
sank slowly in the lime.”
Phonetic Awareness – The ability to identify the phonemes ( smallest
identifiable unit of sound) of spoken language,
how they can be separated (pulled back together),
and then manipulated (added, deleted and
substituted).
Examples:
 Students say the word and then say each syllable
or sound9inside is /in/side or /i/n/s/ /i/d/

Alphabet Knowledge – Refers to recognizing, naming, and sounding out

NUMERACY – is the ability to reason and to apply simple numerical concepts.


Basic numeracy skills consist of comprehending fundamental arithmetical
operations like addition, subtraction , multiplication, and division.
