The CPSP-HSE Scholarship is being awarded every year and it’s a 2 year programme which has been
running effectively with opening of multiple opportunities for the residents availing this opportunity.
If you intend to go for the scholarship program be mindful of doing these things before hand. If
you’re unsuccessful in attaining the scholarship these would still help you in future. The pathway is
also same for the people coming in for general division and they can skip the things intended for
scholarship.
1. Make your account on ECFMG – EPIC (Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (EPIC)
- Physician Portal (ecfmgepic.org)
2. Get your Degree verified through EPIC account (This will be used by every international
forum) It takes almost 14 days to Upload at ECFMG – EPIC and it then goes to PMC for
verification and resultantly PMC then sends it to EPIC again.
3. Get your practical experience (House Job) verified from PMC and then upload it on ECFMG –
EPIC (This will be used by Ireland and for any other country separately) It takes almost 10-14
days to Upload at PMC site. PMC sends it to your hospital for verification and then PMC
makes your practical experience. When your practical experience comes in, upload it onto
ECFMG – EPIC. (It takes almost 14 days to Upload at ECFMG – EPIC and it then goes to PMC
for verification and PMC then sends it to EPIC again)
First 3 points almost take round about 250 Dollars. (Price can change with international
market rates)
It’s better for you to do the following things for your CV to be strong and your chances of
getting into the system goes high as CV denotes how competitive, effective and essential
you are for the system. But what you do be honest about it.
1. Have as many research as you can. Even if one, raises your chances significantly high
of getting selected.
2. Do an audit in your current hospital. Even if one, raises your chances significantly
high of getting selected.
3. Pass any international exam. (e.g MRCPI part 1, MRCP, MRCPCH)
4. Complete/Submit your Dissertation. 2 Research Article Submission are enough in
place of Dissertation.
These are the important things that you need to do if you intend to go for scholarship.
These are not mandatory but essential.
Usually Ireland Seats come around September-October so always keep an eye on the CPSP
website. (:::College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (cpsp.edu.pk)
When seats are available upload all the details as per the CPSP requirement on the website.
You can apply also if you’ve not passed the IMM or ILETS/OET. You can upload that you’ve
applied for the IMM and ILETS/OET exam but before the interviews happen you must show
that you’ve passed the examination.
Usually they ask about your Degree, Experience, Research, Audit and Extra-Cocurricular
activities.
After uploading all the documents for the application. It takes almost 1-1.5 month for you to
know if you’ve been selected or not.
After your selection they usually mail you for interviews. This can take about 15 days to 1
month.
INTERVIEWS
SELECTION
After selection they’ll mail you in 15 days to 1 month, congratulating you about your success
in interviews.
And your process will start then for the IRISH COUNCIL REGISTRATION and HSE-CPSP
Scholarship Registration process.
Late applications may result in delays to you taking up your training place on Day, Month,
2022.
Copy of your English Language Certificate (OET or IELTS). o IMPORTANT – if you do not
submit your English Language Certificate by this date, you will be removed from the IMG
Scholarship Programme.
Documents to be emailed to the [email protected] before Day, Month 2022
A scanned copy of your passport (If you are renewing your passport before commencing
the programme in July, please inform the Forum in your email).
A Copy of your undertaking to CPSP/SMSB that you will return to complete your training
in Pakistan/Sudan attached end of the two year period. (IMPORTANT – The Undertaking is
signed on 50 to 200 Rupees. CPSP will give you the mail regarding what to write in
Undertaking. You’ve to get it signed by 2 of your consultants and Representative from the
CPSP at your Local Centre associated with Scholarship Programme. This undertaking is not
to be sent to RCPI)
Also NOC from your Hospital.

Government Trainees (NRP Candidates) – You’ve to get your NOC from Health Secretariate
and apply as early as possible as it takes a lot of time. Let CPSP know about it they are
helpful in this matter.
IMC REGISTRATION:
Also you’ve to send attested photocopies of all the mentioned above documents to the IMC
via Post. (Postal Address should be confirmed by the Representative of RCPI that’ll be in
contact with you because sometimes they move office temporarily for amendments.)
(DHL/TCS Both are preferrable) – Only Original certificate of ILETS/OET is sent.
OET result is sometimes not accessible so you need to allow the Irish Medical Council from
OET site, so they can view your result.
The RCPI representative will be continuously in contact with you and if you’ve any concerns
regarding Irish registration issue you can mail them and please be kind and focused while
you write emails.
And when you apply for registration in the IMC – They’ll give you a 6 digit number. Mail the
6 digit number to the RCPI representative. (This takes almost 1-2 month and costs around
970 Euros, prices may change, so don’t worry. Also this will be refunded by the Council) /
Not applicable for people coming by themselves.
HOSPITAL ALLOCATION:
During this period you’ll be given your hospital and you’ve to sign back the acceptance form.
They mail you and ask you preference of Hospital. Give them your own preferences but the
decision of your allocation will be taken by the HSE.
WORK PERMIT
You’ll be issued work permit by the HSE. You will be given a mail where you need to sign few
documents and send back to the RCPI representative.
VISA PROCESS
Start applying for Visa 1-2 months before your joining date in Ireland, at least. If you’ve all
the documentation in hand it’ll be easy to process all this. It might get delayed so donot
worry.
Go onto AVATS (inis.gov.ie)
And start the application process. A sample paper will be given to you by the RCPI for your
assistance.
After applying for Visa – Get the appointment from the VFS as soon as possible from your
local city centers. If you donot get an early date, mail the RCPI representative they’ll arrange
you an appointment for you. Please don’t mail if you get the appointment early.

IMM certificate.
If you’re coming with spouse. You’ve to get your marriage certificate and also get attested
it from MOFA (Ministry of Foreign affairs) and FRC (You can apply online and get it in one
day) And you can apply simultaneously.
Email your application number given to you by the VISA application to the RCPI
representative.

AIRLINE
ACCOMODATION:
BANK ACCOUNT
Bank of Ireland, AIB (has an online component through application which is very helpful)
and TSB. These three banks are usually used by the community. It takes almost 2-3 weeks
for bank accounts to open and you need to have a proof of address to open your accounts.
(When you get your accommodation, contact your HR they’ll give you a letter confirming
that this Trainee is living in this accommodation. Only that’ll be acceptable by the bank.)

Keep your credit cards from Pakistan active. As mostly every thing is being shifted to Cards
here in Ireland and it takes 1 month to get your pay and your account access.
2-3K Euors Either cash or Debit/Card is enough for one month.
PHONE/SIM
Coming to Ireland keep your roaming on from Pakistan. Also they provide Internet services
so you should contact you Sim operator for international Internet access.
Three(3), Vodaphone are the 2 leading sim companies. Both can be bought.
TRANSPORTATION
It is better to make a leap card when you come to Ireland. It can be bought from SPAR and
Centra Superstore that can found locally.
For rail ticket you need to have to book online with your credit card for the first time.
Tickets are printed at station.
You can use Journey planner app or even simple google maps. They’ll provide accurate
timings.
You can use Intra City Bus with your leap card.
PPS NUMBER
PAY SCALE
Very important, bring as much of experience from Pakistan as you can, because it increases
your payscale. They’ve different pay scales and the more experience you’re the better pay
scale you’ve.
IRP/GNIB
When you arrive in Ireland you’ve Visa for 6 months Validity. But in 3 months you’ve to
apply for IRP/GNIB. That is Irish residency permit. Every person who stays in Ireland more
than 3 months need to have an IRP.
For IRP you need to get email of your local GARDA office of that particular city. You can also
go on ground to meet them.
It’s the immigration office associated with GARDA.
When you’ll email them they’ll give you the appointment and you need to go to their office
with following documentation and a Credit Card. They take 300 Euros for it and it’s only
done with Credit Cards. (It’s better to have your Pakistan’s Credit card for these immediate
issues.)

Only the email, IMC number and name of the consultant is required.
You’ll get your email from the RCPI and you need to register yourselves with them.
It is different for every specialty so you need to follow their instructions. They require
250Euros to apply for it.
And by Law you’re now entitled to register with them.
There are some days of BST training in DUBLIN. Every one needs to go to attend that
because we are entitled and obligated to do so.
REVENUE
After registration with the PPS Number and getting your Mygovid.ie You need to go to
www.revenue.ie and logon with your www.Mygovid.ie
Click on the Manage your Taxes in the PAYE services and enter details and Employee ID
number (This will be given to you by the HR)
TAX RETURNS
All HSE employees who are registered with the revenue are taxed initially on higher rates. It
is called Emergency tax which could be about 40 to 50 % of the salary. Once you submit your
tax credit certificate, the tax band is adjusted and reduced according to individual
circumstances. Any tax amount deducted above your due amount will be refunded when tax
returns are applied for. You have to annually submit tax returns. Hiring an accountant would
be the best option for this purpose.
All NCHDs are entitled to get some funds from HSE for academic purposes. These include
Training Support Scheme TSS and Course and Examination Refund Scheme. These are
accessible from the NER (National Employment Record) portal. The detailed guidance
document about which courses are entitled for refund and how to apply is available on the
NER. It is only available for a defined period of employment and doesn’t roll over to the next
job, which means that if you don’t use it in that given period, you can not credit to next
year. You will be allocated additional funds next year though for use.
This scheme allows you to buy your own cycle till 1250Euros. And monthly payment will be
deducted. Contact your HR regarding this.
You need to ask the shop if they give you bicycle on Bike to work scheme.
You can easily find halal shops in Ireland at your respective cities as many Muslims are
already residing here in Ireland. Also they’re little expensive than the normal Grocery stores
here.
You can find halal shops on google map. Type in ‘Halal near me in Google map and it will
show you places. Few places donot come up so it’s better that you have a good walk around
the city.
Mosques are usually present in respective cities just google them and it’ll show. For
example, Kilkenny has it’s own Islamic Centre where the gathering for Jumma is done.
First of all the transport system is very effective here in Ireland. But if you want to really
drive a car in here. You must bring along:
International Driving license
NOC from police department for your international License
You can buy cars from different dealers. Be very careful with buying car. Have a proper
check before buying it.
This is the main information that would come in handy for you to reside in Ireland. Rest
things change as time changes and you easily get used to it. There is lot of recreation in
Ireland try as much to do so.
