Dear Sir,
I am happy to inform you that your visa was generally approved by the competent German
authorities.
However, due to the current entry restrictions for Germany the visa can only be issued if your
university confirms in writing that your studies cannot be performed entirely from outside
Germany.
Therefore in order to finalize the visa process, please submit at your earliest convenience the
following documents to the German Embassy:
· confirmation from university about your required physical attendance (see above)
Passport
· Intended date of departure (ticket should be purchased only after the visa has
been issued)
· Proof of health insurance coverage for Germany (at least 6 months starting from the
intended date of departure).
Please refrain from sending any of the above documents by e-mail in advance and submit
them together with your passport directly at the Embassy only.
After having submitted the passport and the above mentioned documents, the processing time
to issue the visa usually takes 1 working day but can take longer. Please consider this when
making travel arrangements.
Passport submission is possible from Sunday-Thursday 8-11 a.m. Due to the current restricted access for
visitors to the Embassy please inform the Embassy one day prior to your visit by e-mail so that Security can
be informed accordingly.
Your entry visa will allow you to travel within the Schengen area.
1. Once you have received your passport back please check that all the information on your
visa sticker is correct, i.e. spelling of names, passport number, etc.. Please check the
information on the sticker as soon as your passport is returned to you. You should inform the
Embassy immediately if there are any errors. In this case a new visa sticker needs to issued.
Your visa will state your full name and passport number and include your photo. It will also
state the number of days you can stay and the period of validity, that is the time by which you
must have received your residence permit for Germany from the local alien’s office
(Ausländerbehörde).
If the number of days on the sticker shows “XX” it means that you are allowed to stay for the
number of days that equal the validity of your visa.
2. As your visa needs to be extended in Germany please do not forget to file such an
application at the foreigner’s office (Ausländerbehörde) of the city where you will reside as
soon as possible after your arrival in Germany. You also need to register at the local residents
registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt).
3 If you are a student and your stay in Germany is fully covered by the validity of your visa
issued by the Embassy, there is generally no need to file for an extension at the
Ausländerbehörde. However, you need to make sure that you have a valid visa/resident permit
at all time. If in doubt, please contact the local Ausländerbehörde.
The Embassy wishes you a safe trip and a pleasant stay in Germany.
Sincerely,
