Preparation A. Preliminary Activities

Hello! Good morning/afternoon.

Let us start our class with a prayer.
Let’s bow our heads, and put ourselves
in the presence of the Lord.
In the name of the Father,… Amen. All: In the name of the Father, …
Amen.
Please take your seats.
It’s a lovely day, isn’t it? (All students take their seats)
How’s your afternoon? All: Yes, ma’am!
All: Fine ma’am!
Very Good. Have you all done eating
lunch? All: Yes, ma’am!

Good to hear, so I hope you are all

ready for our discussion this afternoon. All: yes ma’am!

Look at the people beside you and say

the name who aren’t yet here.
Shanara: None ma’am
Very good! Keep it up.

Before we formally start our class let’s

have first a classroom agreement. This
must be followed as the discussion
started.

Please read it Jhocel. Jhocel:

Make friends and be
thoughtful.

Answer as your
name is called.

Respect yourself
and others.

Try your best.

I do hope that this will be follow so that

we can have a peaceful and smooth
discussion.

Do you have an assignment? All: None ma’am.

Engage Before we start our proper lesson let’s

have first an activity. This activity is
entitled 4pics 1word.

Instruction: Get the piece of

paper under your armchair, you will
be group according to the name of
the animal written in the paper.
Also, each group will receive three
smileys. Every smiley has it’s
worth.
I will show 4 pictures and then
you will guess what is the specific
words fits with it. These will lead us
to what is the possible title of our
lesson this afternoon. You are going
to raise the smiley and say mine,
steal and grab if you want to answer.

Are you ready?

All: Yes ma’am!
I can’t hear you. Again! Are you
ready? All: Yes ma’am!

After me, Clap 3 times, stump 3
times CONGRATULATIONS! All: (clap 3 times, stump 3 times)
CONGRATULATIONS!
Now, your turn. GO!

Explain Nivea: It’s all about radical

From our activity, anyone multiplication ma’am.
from the class can tell what is the
title for our lesson this afternoon?

Yes, Nivea you raise your hand.

Eguia: It’s about multiplication of
radicals ma’am.
Very Good, Nivea. Thank You!
Any other answer?
All: (clap 3 times, stump 3 times)
Yes. Eguia. Very good! Very good! Very Good!

Excellent Eguia. Thank you!

Let us give Eguia and Nivea an
Aling Donisya clap. In my count. 1,
2, 3 Go.

Alright! So, the title of our lesson is

all about.

Multiplication of
Radicals

All:
Everyone, please read.
Multiplication of
Radicals

As we go through to our lesson, with

all your participation, I do hope that
we can meet these objectives.
Karren: identify radical and
Who can read the first objective? multiplication through activity;

Yes, Karren please read the first

objective.

Thank you Karren. Pacaro: solve radical expression

using multiplication;
Who wants to read the next
objective?

Okay, Pacaro please read. Bawing: show mastery in performing

basic operations on radical
And for the last objective. expressions through analyzation.
Yes, Bawing please read the last
objective.

Thank you!

So, what is Radicals?

Radicals. The √ symbol that is

used to denote square root or
nth roots.
Legarto:

Please read Legarto. Radicals. The √ symbol that

is used to denote square
root or nth roots.

Thank you Legarto!

What is multiplication?

Multiplication. The repeated

addition of groups of equal
sizes.
Daarol:
Please read Daarol.
Multiplication. The
repeated addition of groups
of equal sizes.

Thank you Daarol!

And lastly, what is multiplication of
Radicals?

Multiplication of Radicals.

2 steps to multiply radicals.

 multiply the numbers inside

the radical sign, the
radicands, together.
 multiply the numbers outside
the radical sign together.

REMEMBER:
Don't forget that only radicals with
the same index can be combined
through multiplication.

Examples:
1.
2.

Podador:
Please read the 2 steps, Podador.

Thank You Podador!

Who can read the very important
thing to remember?
Acaso:
Yes, Acaso.

Thank you Acaso!

Example:

1. √ a ● √ b=√ ab
2. √3 a ● √3 b=√3 ab

Let’s try it to number.

Examples:
1. Simplify: 3 √ 2● √6

Multiply the coefficients and

multiply the radicands.
3 √ 2● √6=3 √ 12

Factor the radicand.

¿ 3 √ 4 (3)

Simplify.
¿ 3 ●2 √3
¿ 6 √3

2. Simplify: 2 √ x ●5 √ 6 x ● √ 2 x

Multiply the coefficients and

multiply the radicands.
2 √ x ●5 √ 6 x ● √ 2 x=10 √12 x 3

Factor the radicand.

¿ 10 √ 4 ( 3 ) ( x ) ( x )
2

Simplify.
¿ 10 ( 2 )|x|√ 3 x
¿ 20 x √ 3 x
3. Multiply the binomials and
simplify:
( √ 2+ √ 3 ) ( 4 √ 2−2 √ 3 )

Use the distributive property.

¿ 4 √ 4−2 √ 6+ √6−2 √ 9

Simplify.
¿ 4 ( 2 )+ 2 √ 6−2 (3 )
¿ 8+2 √ 6−6
¿ 8−6+2 √ 6
¿ 2+2 √6

4. Simplify: 5 √ 3 a3 ● 4 √ 25 a 4
¿ 20 √ 75 a
7

¿ 20 √ 25 ( 3 ) a (a)
6

¿ 20 ( 5 ) a3 √ 3 a
¿ 100 a √ 3 a

Any question?

Clarification? All: None ma’am.

Okay, very good I do hope that you All: None ma’am.

really understood the discussion.

Let’s have another activity, this

activity is entitled, Treasure
Elaborate Hunting. with the same group.
Each group must have a leader,
a secretary and a reporter.

Instruction:
Connect the line from star to
the treasure. Put the letter of the
correct answer beside the
problem. After you answer, post
your cartolina on the board.

You are going introduce the

name of your group by making
short a yell. The reporter will
explain the work of the group.

Trinidad: Very Challenging ma’am!

Pacaro: Our goal is to win ma’am to

get the treasure price.

group cow, you get the treasure you
deserve.

Because of that you deserve a

KOKAK clap.

IV. Evaluate
Instruction: Get ½ sheet of paper. In your paper write your name, grade and section and the date of
today. Answer the given problem provided by a solution.
A. Multiply and then simplify
