Aims and Objectives A robust training and assessment programme designed to present the skills and knowledge
required by a competent person, to safely conduct the installation of LPG bulk storage
vessels and associated pipework in domestic and commercial environments that fall outside
of the scope of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.
Scope The programme is intended for operatives engaged in this type of work on a routine basis.
Pre-Requisites Candidates must have completed a basic health and safety course and have received a
minimum of six months relevant supervised training in the field.
Training The training programme will utilise our boats specific training manual (300+ pages) and
encompass the following topics:
• Safety legislation
• UKLPG Codes of Practice
• Fire safety actions
• COSHH information
• Properties and characteristics of LPG
• Complete and incomplete combustion
• Tightness testing procedures
• Gas storage systems
Competence
The candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the subject will be established by the
application of a multi-choice theoretical question papers and completion of specified
practical tasks.
Assessment There will be a short knowledge and understanding test upon completion of the course.
The assessment will be conducted by an assessor qualified to A1 or equivalent standard.
Verification The assessment process will be verified by an internal verifier qualified to V1 or equivalent
standard.
Certification The programme will be certificated by LPG Training. A certificate of competence will be
issued to successful candidates. Photo ID cards are available at extra cost.
