SURFACE PROTECTION & FIRE-PROOFING

GENERAL

(1) Unless otherwise noted, the following measurement methods and units shall be applied to
the surface protection and fire-proofing works which are defined in ANNEX-1.

(2) The quantities defined herein shall be "Net" based on JGC GULF's drawings and/or
specifications unless otherwise noted.

(3) The work progress for payment shall be added up as and when all the steps of work in
sequence are finished and JGC GULF's final inspection is executed with a satisfactory result.

(1) All the work except for structural steel, Air Fin Cooler, Furnace and Piping Support
(FWBS B410A/B/E/F, B420B/C/E/F and B430B/C/E/F) shall be measured by the surface
area to be covered by the protection/fire-proofing material.
Any overlapping of tapes, sheets, etc., or multi-layers of application shall not be
measured.
Any areas of embedded materials or attachments such as bolts, nuts, gusset plates,
splice plates, etc. shall not be measured. Any voids and intrusions shall not be
deducted if such area of each void/intrusion is less than 0.25 m2. Any corrugation,
lumps or dents shall be deemed to be smooth and flat in quantification.

The surface area of piping shall be obtained by the following formula:

Outer Dia. x 3.14 x Length

where the total length of the piping shall be calculated as per Table-B attached
hereto.

(2) In the case of the structural steel, Air Fin Cooler, Furnace and Piping Support (FWBS
B410A/B/D/E/F, B420A/B/D/E/F and B430A/B/D/E/F), they shall be measured in
accordance with the following formula. Rounding-off of the edges shall not be
considered.

Any voids/intrusions due to embedded materials, anchor bolts, holes, etc. shall not
be deducted if such area of each case is less than 0.25 m2.

Any extrusion due to stiffener plate, base plate, gusset plate, end plate, etc. shall not
be measured additionally.

For Column: Area = (4W + 2H) x Length
For Beam: Area = (3W + 2H) x Length

(3) All necessary works, e.g., anchor, reinforcement, primer and required top-coat for
light-weight cementitious & intumescent fireproofing, sealing between fireproofing
material and steel, shall not be measured separately except B410*d Coating for
dense concrete.

MEASUREMENT FORMULA FOR PIPING

1. GENERAL

1.1 The length of pipes shall be measured from center line of pipe to center line of pipe
according to the dimensions shown in isometric drawings for construction or plan
drawings for construction.

1.2 The length to be measured shall include the length of inline components such as valves,
flanges, filters, steam traps etc.
