I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify Adverbs of Manner used in the sentence.
2. Use Adverbs of Manner in the sentence.
3. Write sentences using Adverbs of Manner.

III. LEARNING PROCESS

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

1.  Drill: Let the students encircle the words written on the board. Students will
choose the adverbs of manner from the list of words below.

carefully easily neat slow correctly patiently

sad badly near slowly hard kindly

2. Spelling: Write the correct spelling of the word.


1. kind 5. silent 
2. sweet 6. neat
3. slow 7. loud
4. angry 8. calm

3. Motivation: 
The teacher will show some pictures of different events and let
the
students express their ideas about the illustration.
B. DISCUSSION

1. Presentation

Learning adverb is fun. An adverb describes a verb, an adjective or another


adverb. ADVERB OF MANNER tells the way or how something is done. It
answers the question HOW. Adverb of manner is formed by adding –ly to the
adjective word.

Example:

kind – kindly patient - patiently

quiet- quietly creative - creatively

neat- neatly loud - loudly

sweet – sweetly silent – silently

slow – slowly calm – calmly

2. Guided Practice

Directions: Change the underlined words into adverb of manner.

1. “I got a high score in the test,” Ana loud told her mother.

2. The singer sings soft.

3. Grandfather waited us patient.

4. Kent wrote his poem neat.

5. Pao silent answered the questions in the contest.

Activity 1
Directions: Choose the correct adverb of manner to complete the following
sentences.

1. The postman called (loud, loudly) to my bother.

2. Brother (eagerly, eager) go outside to get the letter.

3. (Sudden, Suddenly) Ellen my cousin arrived.


4. Father (warm, warmly) welcomes the visitor.

5. Jade and Clark giggled (happily, happy) about the good news.

Activity 2
Directions: Copy the adverb of manner in each sentence. Do this in your
notebook.

1. John listens carefully.

2. The boy ran quickly.

3. Jireh did her work quietly.

4. The teacher sits properly

5. My friend sings beautifully.

IV- APPLICATION

Remember

Adverb of manner tells us the way something is done. It answers the question HOW.
Adverbs of manner are formed by adding –ly to the adjective words.

Direction: Rewrite the following phrases using the correct adverbs of manner.

1. move slow

2. dance graceful

3. runs fast

4. speak moderate

5. write neat

V. EVALUATION

Directions: Put a thumbs up on the blank in situations that show politeness and
thumbs down if not, then underline the adverbs of manner in each sentence.
