The Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) would like to inform that we had received an inspection notice
from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on 17th February 2023 based on a complaint submitted to ROS
Hereby is the detailed chronology of the events pertaining to the inspection, including our actions in
response to the findings of the inspection :
17th February 2023 The ROS sent by email a document titled Surat Pemeriksaan Bernotis to
the MPS President, Secretary and Treasurer (see Appendix 1) stating that
the inspection date to be 28th Feb 2023.
However this letter was not received and the HQ was only made aware of
this by the MPS President.
20th February 2023 The Executive Director (ED) and Deputy Executive Director (DED) of MPS
requested a date change as the treasurer was unavailable on 28th February
2023.
23rd February 2023 The ROS confirmed that the inspection will be conducted on 9th March
2023. The Honorary Secretary informed the MPS council on the inspection.
9th March 2023 The ROS inspection was conducted at Wisma MPS from 9.00am to
2.30pm (see Appendix 2), attended by :
10th March 2023 The Honorary Secretary emailed the post-event report to the MPS Council
(see Appendix 3).
17th March 2023 The ROS issued Kenyataan Sebelum Pendaftaran Dibatalkan to MPS,
requiring MPS to provide a response on why MPS should not be de-
registered within 30 days from the date of issuance (i.e. 16th April 2023)
(see Appendix 4).
24th March 2023 The MPS President alerted the Honorary Secretary upon receiving his copy
of the Kenyataan Sebelum Pendaftaran Dibatalkan. The copy to MPS HQ
has not arrived to date.
25th March 2023 Response to the statement was discussed in the MPS Council Meeting.
26th March 2023 The Emergency General Meeting (EGM) was called to address the
constitution amendments required by the ROS inspection.
The MPS logo was taken down from all official MPS platforms (website,
social media) as well as the MPS letter head.
27th March 2023 The ED and DED visited ROS Selangor to request a verified copy of the
Kenyataan Sebelum Pendaftaran Dibatalkan and to inform on the current
actions taken by MPS. A draft reply was shared for review by the ROS.
During this meeting the ROS advised that ALL constitution amendments
advised during the 9th March 2023 inspection are to be included in the
constitution amendments for EGM. The ROS officer also expressed our
quick action was good.
29th March 2023 A formal response to the Kenyataan Sebelum Pendaftaran Dibatalkan was
handed over by the ED to the ROS.
In summary :
For issue 1 : The email dated 17th July 2022 was shared to show that the
council was informed of the payment before it was issued and a vote was
taken on 25th March 2023 to formalise that the majority did not object to the
payment, and
For issue 2 : The MPS’ Call For EGM Notice was submitted. As the
investigation is ongoing, more details will not be shared at this stage.
31st March 2023 The Honorary Treasurer, Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director
visited ROS Selangor office to seek clarification on the constitution
amendments being proposed. During this meeting, the Honorary Treasurer
was informed that the complainant had come back to ROS and queried on
why his/her other complaints were not included. The officer clarified that
their stand was the same as during inspection whereby they accepted MPS’
explanation on the other matters raised.
8th April 2023 The EGM will be held at 2.00pm in hybrid mode at Wisma MPS Puchong.

As of today, the MPS is still awaiting a formal response from the ROS following the submission of our reply
to the ROS on 29th March 2023. We will keep our fellow members posted on the formal outcome of this
issue.
