2 Stitch markers
*Finished size is 18” tall and at the widest point (around the head) is 20.5” around*
Whenever I make my stuffies, I always use 2 strands of yarn to help decrease on the gaps
and to make a sturdier stuffy. So when starting, I use one strand of the Café Latte and
one strand of the Mushroom, both being worked at the same time. This makes the colors
of the stuffy more dimensional. For this pattern, the only time a double strand is used is
when making the main body parts. The eyes, leaves, and green on top of his spikes only use
one strand of yarn. *You can use 1 strand of yarn if you prefer. However your final product
will be significantly smaller.*
In this pattern the legs will be worked together with the body, so the only sewing you will
have to do is when you attach the arms and eyes.
This pattern is worked in the round, so you will want to make sure you mark the 1st stitch
of your row so that you can keep count.

*Lightly finish stuffing arms so they will lay flush to the body when you sew them on*
*Attach arms to the body, at row 41 (just before the 1st row of the neck) at a backward
and downward angle so his arms will come to the front of his body. The front part of his
arm where you are attaching will be attached at row 41 more towards the front of his
body. The back part of his arm will be attached at row 37 more towards the back of his
body.
*Sew on eyes*
*To make the upper eye brow join with both strands
of MC and 4.00 mm (G) hook on outside corner of the
eye. Sc around the top of the eye until you reach the
inside corner. Slst into next sc of head and finish off.

(where his leg starts) at the bottom of the foot. Bring your yarn up through to the 3rd row
from the needle and wrap it back around to the bottom and pull the yarn tight ( not too
tight because you do not want to open up the space too far between your stitches. Do this
again, only go up to the 4th row from where your needle is at the bottom and pull tight
again. Do this one more time except go up to the 5th row from the bottom. Instead of
coming back out of the bottom of that section, have your needle come out at the bottom a
few sc over (as wide as you want his “toes”). Repeat this all the way around the bottom of
the foot and sew in your end.
*To make the vines that go around his body, with 5.00
mm (H) hook, join with a slst into any stitch on Baby
Groot’s body and sc in the same st. Follow around his
body by sc into the stitches of his body in any pattern
that you want. For mine, I did not want the vines to be
too overwhelming so I spaced them our fairly far
apart. I also did not add any vines to his head, but
that is up to you as well.
