Assessment Topic

You are required to launch a new marketing communication campaign for a product/ brand
for the last 6 months of 2023. You are in-charge of designing the whole campaign.

Your presentation needs to incorporate the following elements :

1. Brief description of company


2. Describe target market(s) (using different bases).
3. Communication objectives.
4. Marketing Communications program - you do not need to use all promotional tools,
only those that are deemed relevant based on budgetary constraints.
5. The effectiveness of the planned marketing communication program
6. The budget.
7. Samples of the promotional campaign.

You must consider more than one target audience and go beyond end- consumers.

Note: Clearly your primary consideration will be your final consumer, but you need to
remember other parties that might have an interest in your organization such as the media,
professional associations and staff. You might only undertake public relations for them but
you need to address them in your plan to ensure that you consider an integrated program with
all stakeholders that gives out consistent messages.

Assessment rationale

The objective of this assignment is to have students examine the elements involved in
developing a marketing communications plan. This assignment provides an opportunity for
students to apply the theoretical concepts of marketing communications to a product
organisation.

By the end of this assignment it is hoped that students can look at any organisation and
understand the difference between integrated marketing communications and traditional
advertising campaigns.

Assessment criteria

There are five important elements to be assessed in the assignment:

Besides achieving a high standard for the above-mentioned skills, for an assignment to gain a
distinction or better grade, the following would have to be included:

1. Thorough research from a number of sources, including books, journals, the Internet
2. Collection of clearly sourced market data for the organisation.
3. A well thought plan covering objectives (behaviour and communication), description
of target market and service offering, and integration of various elements of the
marketing communication program.
4. A creative approach that makes the communications plan stand out from the clutter.
5. Justification for choosing various actions.
