normal conditions:
LEVEL-2:
3. Provides acidic medium for the action of enzymes in stomach:
4. First product of breakdown of glucose:
LEVEL-3:
5. Part of Nephron that collect the initial filtrate:
6. Tissues that transport products of photosynthesis in plants:
II. CHOOSE THE CORRECT ANSWER:
LEVEL-1:
1. Stored form of food in plants and animals:

(c) Chlorophyll
(d) chloroplast
LEVEL-2:
3. Proteins in the food digests to produce:
(a) Amino acids
(b) Fatty acids
(c) Glycerol
(d) Glucose
4. The products of anaerobic respiration in yeast:
(a) Ethanol only
(b) Carbon dioxide and energy
(c) Ethanol, carbon dioxide and energy
(d) None of the above
LEVEL-3:
In the Questions given below, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a
statement of reason (R). Mark the correct choice as:
(a) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct
explanation of assertion (A).
(b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct
explanation of assertion (A).
(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but reason (R) is true.
5. ASSERTION: Hemoglobin has high affinity for oxygen.
REASON: Hemoglobin is the respiratory pigment.
6. ASSERTION: Aquatic organisms breathe faster than terrestrial organisms.
REASON: Fish take in oxygen from water.
III. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
LEVEL-1:
1. Write any two differences between arteries and veins.
2. Differentiate aerobic and anaerobic respiration.
LEVEL-2:
3. Why rings of cartilage are present in the throat?
4. Write any two functions of bile.
LEVEL-3:
5. Write the functions of the following:
(a) Anal sphincter
(b) Lipase
(c) Villi
(d) Lymph
6. The force that blood exerts against the wall of a vessel is called blood
pressure. This pressure is much greater in arteries than in veins. The
pressure of blood inside the artery during ventricular systole (contraction)
is called systolic pressure and pressure in artery during ventricular
diastole (relaxation) is called diastolic pressure. The normal systolic
pressure is about 120 mm of Hg and diastolic pressure is 80 mm of Hg.
Blood pressure is measured with an instrument called
sphygmomanometer. High blood pressure is also called hypertension and
is caused by the constriction of arterioles, which results in increased
resistance to blood flow. It can lead to the rupture of an artery and
internal bleeding.
i. For a patient who is having hyper tension, the blood pressure
will be:
(a) 80/120mm
(b) 75/110mm
(c) 110/150mm
(d) 65/110mm
ii. The instrument to measure blood pressure is:
(a) Stethoscope
(b) Manometer
(c) Sphygmomanometer
(d) Sphygmometer
IV. DIAGRAMS FOR PRACTICE:
1. C S of leaf
2. Open and closed stomata
3. Nutrition in Amoeba
4. Alimentary canal in humans
5. Respiratory system in humans
6. Alveolus
7. Structure of human heart
8. Schematic representation of double circulation
9. Excretory system in humans
10. Structure of nephron
CHAPTER-7: CONTROL AND COORDINATION
