    Claim: Based on the BBM Vlog posted in youtube entitled “BBM VLOG #166: Backstories
    with Imelda Marcos l Projects During Her Time as First Lady” The LRT line 1 is included on the
    video showing that it is one of the projects created during the Marcos regime.

    Rating: This information is a FACT but some of the Filipinos are even claiming that the LRT
    line 2 and MRT 3 are also one of the projects during Marcoses which became a MISLEADING
    information to all.

     Sub-claim #1 (LRT 1 project under marcos)

    This picture posted online where the person who edited the picture wanted to tell everyone that
    LRT 1 existed and continuously used by the Filipinos because of the late president Ferdinand
    Marcos.
    Rating: Misleading
    Fact: On July 12, 1980, the country’s president, Ferdinand E. Marcos, created the Light Rail
    Transit Authority or the LRTA as a government agency. The Chairman was then the First Lady
    and Governor of Metro Manila which was Imelda Romualdez Marcos. It is true that the project
    was created during Marcoses, however it is not him alone, there is an Initial assistance for
    building the LRT project came from the Belgian government which granted a P300 million
    “soft” and interest-free loan with a repayment time of 30 years. Construction assistance form the
    swiss firm of Losinger and the American company Dravo. The government appointed
    Electrowatt Engineering Services of Zurich (Switzerland) to manage and supervise the project.
    Electrowatt set up offices in Manila and became responsible for extension studies of the system.

    A post from Facebook that can be very misleading to all, it states that if a person who hates the
    Marcoses, that person should stay with his opinion and should not continuously use the projects
    of the Marcoses as listed below wherein LRT, MRT, and PNR are included in the list. Another
    information coming from a site where a misleading title “Who created MRT and LRT?” and the
    information below is all about during the Marcos Regime like it was stating that both of LRT and
    MRT was under his administration.
    Rating: False
    Fact: The LRT line 2 was constructed between 1996 and 2003. On the year 1996, MRTC was
    officially began the construction of the EDSA MRT3 system at Santolan and on the year 1999
    partial operations from buendia to north avenue was started. Year 2000 was the official
    completion of MRT 3 project by MRTC. MRT developed after the late president was ousted.This
    is the true information of the creation of LRT line 2 and MRT. Upon checking the years, both are
    not in the year of Marcos administration from 1965 to 1986.
