3. ASSEMBLY POINTS
● Crankshaft,
connecting rod

Big end diameter :2、1 MoS2

1. A set of numbers on the connecting rod is the weight of the connecting rod. When
assemble, the weight difference between the two connecting rods cannot exceed 2g. The
other set of numbers with the same value is for matching reference, the mark “1” or “2” is
the connecting rod big end diameter grouping.
2. When assembling the connecting rod, the convex on the connecting rod should face to the
exhaust side, and the connecting rod cover should be installed according to the grouping
mark. The nut should be screwed to the bottom by hand and tighten to 40 N•m, then loose
it out and tighten to “29 N•m +100 degrees”. After assembly, the rotation should be
smoothly.

● Balance shaft

1. The timing chain must be hung on the timing gear


before the balance shaft is installed into the
crankcase.
2. The point mark on the balance shaft and the
crankshaft should be aligned with each other.
3. Apply engine oil on the shaft neck.

● Crankcase assembly

1. The crankcase should be installed in pair together, the groove side of the
driven shaft bearing face outside and the retainer ring is not missing.
2. The tightening sequence of the crankcase bolts should be 1-6 firstly and 7-10
secondly, and tighten according to the numbers sequence on the crankcase.
The bolts at the edge of the crankcase should be tightened diagonally
(44N·m\35N·m\27.5N·m \20N·m).
3. After the crankcase is assembled, the crankshaft should running smoothly,
and the balance shaft axial float is also smoothly.

● Oil Pan

There is no locating pins on the oil pan. When install the oil pan,
the oil suction port and the oil return pipe should be fixed into the
corresponding positions separately in the bottom of oil pan.

● Transmission

1. The retainer rings on the drive and driven shafts should be installed in
the grooves properly.
2. Before installation, smear cleaned oil on the gears and shafts. The
rotation should be smoothly and no jam.
3. The transmission cover screw should be coated with thread locker,
pay attention to the position of the longer and shorter bolts, the torque
is 20N•m

● Oil pump

1. Before installed into the crankcase, the oil pump


should be finished the pre-assembly. The pin is
easy to slip out and miss, pay attention on it. Note
the mark on the auxiliary pump rotator face to
outward. After the assembly, the oil pump shaft
should running smoothly.
2. The thread on the oil pump sprocket bolt is
anti-clockwise, should be coated with thread
locker, torque requirement is 12N•m.

● Clutch

1. When installing the clutch hub assembly, hang the oil pump chain firstly, and
the end surface of clutch sleeve with the two holes faces outward.
2. Friction plates should be covered by engine oil, the outermost friction plate
should be dislocated one grid, the marks should be aligned with each other.
3. There thinner steel plate should be installed into the innermost.
3. The mark of elastic washer faces outward, the nut is coated with thread
locker, torque requirement is 132N•m.

● Piston and piston ring combination

1. The pit mark on the piston faces to the exhaust side.


2. The first compression ring opening should face to the exhaust side (pit mark),
and the second compression ring opening is 180 degrees from the first one.
3. The number II on the piston is the size grouping mark, the painting point is the
quality grouping mark. Pay attention on these marks when assembly.

● Cylinder cover

1. The positioning pin can not


missing.
2. The cylinder head gasket
should not have any
damage.
3. Pay attention on the
thermostat direction.
4. The tappets that have
been finished the valve
clearance adjustment
should be marked to
prevent mixing from
others.

● Trigger plate

1. Bolt torque is 40N•m


2. The mark 1T(the one with
the arrow)and 2T should
align with the upper and
lower crankcase fitting line.
In this position, the mark on
the timing inspection
hole(located in the RH side
cover) should align with the
2/T mark.
3. When the camshaft is
removed, the crankshaft
should also be rotated to
this position.

● Camshaft sprocket

1. The sprocket on the input and exhaust camshafts is same. If it


is installed on the intake camshaft, take the “IN” pin hole and the
“IN” timing alignment marked as standard.
2. After the inlet and exhaust camshaft sprockets installed with the
timing chain, the timing alignment mark should align with the
cylinder head surface.

● Camshaft
1. There are IN marks on the intake camshaft and camshaft seat, and
EX marks on the exhaust camshaft and its camshaft seat.
2. The inlet and exhaust camshaft seats can not be exchanged with each
other during assembly, and note the mounting direction. Smear engine
oil on the axle neck and cams before installation.
3. The inlet & exhaust camshaft seats, the camshaft limit plate and the
cylinder head are machined together and have a same code on each
parts, which can be only replaced together.

● Valve clearance

1. Turn the crankshaft three circles before measure the valve clearance. After the
tensioner works, let the cam turn to the base circle position, then measure the
clearance by feeler gauge.
2. The intake valve clearance is 0.08-0.13 mm and the exhaust valve is 0.20-0.26
mm.
3. Tappets have 50 kind of specifications in sizes, the difference on each
specification is 0.02mm.
Conversion formula:
measured clearance value - standard clearance intermediate value + original tappet value

● Output sprocket

1. Before installing the output shaft bushing, install the O-ring on the
shaft. The bushing end surface with groove faces inward.
2. The nut should be coated with thread locker. The torque is
125N•m.
3. The edge of the spline gasket should be floded after the nut is
tightened.

● Magneto rotor

1. There is no woodruff key in the magneto rotor taper hole, so there is no


alignment requirement during assembly.
2. Install the copper washer and apply oil before the starting motor gear is
assembled into the overrunning clutch.
3. The inner surface of the magneto rotor taper hole and the corresponding
taper mounting position in the crankshaft should be cleaned completely, oil
or impurities are forbidden seriously.
4. The bolt should coated with thread locker, torque requirement is 155N•m.
The chamfered side of the gasket faces outwards.

● DUAL GEAR

Benefit by the torque overload protection of the elastic


disc spring, the dual gear can buffer the excessive
force in reverse rotation situation, which can protect
the overrunning clutch and the starting motor.

● Water pump

1. Before installing the pump impeller, clean the impurities and oil
on the rotating ring and stationary ring surfaces.
2. The clearance between the pump impeller and the pump body is
from 0.2 to 0.6 mm.
3. Note not missing the positioning pin.
