INTRODUCTION
Mechanical brakes are arrest the energy of the one of the machine or object utilized
force, most individuals are familiar with automotive brakes, but mechanical brakes are
also essential in material handling, power transmission, and manufacturing
applications. Mechanical braking system function is force delivered to a body in linear

or rotary motion, such as wheel, or shaft to slow or stop motion. Mechanical friction
based brakes utilize a brake liner that is tightened or pressed against motion of the
body to stop or decelerate. Mechanical friction-based braking generates lot of heat and
some noise. Friction-type brakes are mostly used in automotive applications.
Drum brakes: - Drum brake lining is adhered to the external surface of a curved
bracket that is called a shoe. The mostly common configuration includes two shoes
mounted inside of the drum on a plate. A cylinder presses the shoe on to the insides of
the drum to initiate deceleration. A drum brake that presses or force applied on the
outside of the drum that is called a clasp brakes.
CONE BRAKES: Cone brake is a type of drum brake where the drum and cone (i.e. shoe)
are mating sections of conical frustums. The cone (i.e. shoe) is fitted with brake lining
and pressed into the drum (i.e. cup) to apply friction. The advantage of the cone brakes
is increased the surface area and quicker deceleration.
DISC BRAKES: Disc brake utilizes a metal disc and also called a rotor, which is
connected to the axle. The rotor spins between a caliper housing that contains between
one and 12 cylinders, which pushes a brake lining outfitted on a brake pad against the
rotor surface.

BAND BRAKES: Band brakes tighten is high friction of the around a pulley and attached
to rotating axle for example to the bicycles. The pull on the band one of is in the
direction of the axle rotation the band brake is in the self-energizing. Differential brakes
attach to the both two ends of the brake to the lever to supply braking power for bi-
directional shafts.

METHODOLOGY: -
The assemble model then is inserted into ANSYS. Meshing model has been done using
mesh option and applied the force 70lbs.

Same meshing model inserted into ANSYS then applied the force 120lbs.
Same meshing model inserted into ANSYS then applied another force 220lbs.
The modeling and dynamic analysis is used to study of the displacement of the shoe and
forces variation at different formation of the brakes and also the displacement at
conditions. The below figures shows all the displacements, forces and dynamic Analysis
at different orientations.

RESULT: - In this paper, as small displacement of the shoe with help of applied force to
simulate brake torque, mechanical braking system various applied the forces then
created the heat (torque) noise, but applied the some different of the forces like
70,120,220lbs and reduced to torque needed to apply to sateen force then reduced the
noise and heat. And such as wheel, or shaft to slow or stop motion without noise and
torque.
