3 Test (TST): Fitness and Nutrition Test

Question 1

Physical activity is an important component of healthful living. (9 points)

a. Contrast a physically active lifestyle with a sedentary lifestyle.

The difference between sedentary lifestyle and active lifestyle is that

sedentary lifestyle is just being lazy and sitting around all day while

active lifestyle is being active such as walking, biking, joking, going to

the gym and more.

b. Name a short-term consequence of a sedentary lifestyle.

You can become really tired from sitting and get cramps or you can also

get an inability to concentrate and possibly lose track of time.

c. Explain how this short-term consequence may lead to a long-term health


concern. Be as specific as possible about the nature of the long-term
health concern, and analyze a possible cause of it.

If you sit around and eat a lot over time you will develop weight problems
which have a higher chance of a heart disease or a stroke which can cause
serious problems such as dying or something in your body being paralized.

Question 2

Good sleep habits can have many positive outcomes in addition to supporting
good physical health. Describe two such additional benefits. Include specific
examples to support your descriptions. (4 points)

When you have good sleep patterns it relieves stress which is extremely painful if
you constantly have it and could possibly lead to a hard attack. Another additional
benefit is if you are a kid growing you could grow and become bigger and stronger.

Question 3

A balanced diet helps you obtain all the necessary nutrients. (9points)

a. Identify a vitamin or mineral that is typically a shortfall nutrient.

Vitamin C is a typical shortfall nutrient which you tend to take once a

day.

b. Explain how you can meet the need for this nutrient.
If you have a wide variety of nutrients. If you drink water daily.

c. Describe how obtaining sufficient amounts of this nutrient can prevent disease.
Vitamin C provides a wide amount of health advantages. These advantages include protecting your
body from infection and damage to body cells. Another being that helping produce collagen and
helping in the absorption of iron.

Question 4

Create a restaurant menu item: a healthful appetizer. Explain why you chose each
ingredient. Make sure your appetizer contains at least two ingredients. (6 points)

SALAD:

Romaine Lettuce

Cucumbers

Beans

Corn

The reason I chose a salad is because it is a healthy choice and you need
Lettuce and Cucumbers because you have to have greens with every meal. You
need beans and corn because of protein and if you want you can even add meat
like chicken.

Question 5

It is important to evaluate statements made by individuals and companies


about health products. (8 points)

a. Describe an advertisement or some advice that was given to you about a


health product. If you cannot recall a specific advertisement or statement, you
can make one up.

The Old spic body spray was given to me for free but I later found out that some
of the chemicals that were used in it caused cancer.

b. How would you evaluate the advertisement or advice? Give a specific


and detailed explanation.

I would take the advice and research more on it and then if they are true
then I would stop using that product.

Question 6
Suppose you notice that a classmate seems unusually sad and has been losing a lot
of weight recently. One day he complains about being fat. (6 points)

1. Identify an eating disorder associated with these symptoms.

The person could be on drugs and not feel hungry and the drugs could be telling
him or she that they are fat.

2. Name an Internet resource for information about this eating

disorder.
Eating Disorder and Disease control centers would be a good place to

start.

3. Explain an action you could take to help your classmate.

You could ask them are they taking anything? WHy do they feel like

they are fat? Then get them help from a trusted adult or trusted control

center.

Question 7 Identify a general wellness goal or physical activity goal for yourself.
Develop a plan to address your goal. Include how you intend to measure your
progress. (6 points)

I want to be more muscular and fast for my sports which are basketball and baseball
so I could be better at those sports. I have been going to the gym and practicing
baseball and basketball a lot lately since school is out.
Question 8

How can you ensure that you get enough essential nutrients to meet the
federal guidelines? Be as specific as possible. (6 points)

You should have the recommended amount of calories and carbs per meal
and per day by a doctor and that can be managed by food labels which tend to
be on the back or side of the food or drink.

Question 9

Name two indoor training facilities in your community. Explain the advantages and
disadvantages of each. (6 points)

One indoor training facility in my community is a gym and there are a lot of these
in my community and I go there five times a week. This helps improve everything
with cardio and weight training. Another indoor training facility is the pool. Most of
the pools are outside but one is inside and this is cardio when you swim.
