Applications are invited by Director VJTI in the prescribed format for the faculty positions sanctioned by the
Government of Maharashtra and approved by the University of Mumbai, vide Ref No.- CTAU/SC/2023-
24/286 dated 7th June 2023 at the Undergraduate level in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Structural
Engineering, and Chemistry in the Institute.

The advertisement notification is also available on, www.dte.maharashtra.gov.in

1. The advertisement, notification and application format (Appendix – A) can be downloaded from the
Institute website www.vjti.ac.in and also from www.dte.maharashtra.gov.in. The application form
complete in all respect shall be submitted along with the following enclosures:
a. Documentary evidence/ proof for age, qualifications, caste, experience etc.
b. E-receipt (Printout) of the application processing fees.
2. The filled application in the prescribed format with all enclosures should reach the Director, VJTI,
H.R. Mahajani Road, Matunga (East), Mumbai - 400019 on or before 11th July 2023, by 5:00 pm

4. The application processing fee (non-refundable) should be paid online by following the laid down
steps mentioned in Appendix– B.

a. Rs. 1000- for open category candidates.
b. Rs. 500- for reserved category candidates.
5. Reservation of posts:
a. The statutory reservation policy for recruitment is applicable as per state government
guidelines issued from time to time.
b. The post for the reserved category candidates will be filled in by the same category candidates
(Domicile of State of Maharashtra) belonging to that particular category only.
c. Candidates belonging to the reserved category must submit a Caste Certificate and Caste
Validity Certificate issued by a competent authority, the Government of Maharashtra.
Additionally, the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate in the case of VJ(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), SBC and
OBC Category candidates need to attach along with their application. The women candidates
are exempted from producing the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate.
d. The candidates applying against the vacancies reserved for EWS must produce valid income and
asset Certificates issued by the Competent Authority of the Government of Maharashtra.
e. Reservation for the women will be as per University of Mumbai Circular No. BCC/16/74/1998
dated 10th March, 1998. 4% reservation shall be for the persons with disability as per University
of Mumbai Circular No. Special Cell/ICC/2019-20/05 dated 05th July, 2019. Candidates having
knowledge of Marathi shall be preferred.
6. Minimum Qualifications for Recruitment:
The Minimum qualifications, experience and scale of pay required for the various posts shall be
as prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra vide Government Resolution No. स िेआ-
1111/प्र.क्र.44/19/त .वि.-2 dated 11/09/2019, AICTE and University of Mumbai circular no.
मविम क/विविम क/तंत्रविक्षर्/११/२०२०-२१ dated 11/01/2021.

A. Assistant Professor (Level – 10, Entry Pay Rs.57700/-):

Essential Qualifications
(a) Engineering / Technology
B.E. / B. Tech. / B. S. and M. E. / M. Tech. / M. S. or Integrated M. Tech. in relevant branch
with first class or equivalent in any one of the degrees.

(b) Qualifications for Faculties in Science


The qualifications for recruitment for faculty in the disciplines of Basic Science shall be as per
the UGC Notification No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), dated 18th July, 2018 and UGC guidelines issued
from time to time.
Note: Candidates who have done Ph.D. after the Bachelor’s Degree from institution of
National importance with GATE/ GPAT/ CEED shall be eligible for the post of Assistant
Professor.

Eligibility for faculties in Science (A-OR-B)

A i A master‘s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever
the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an
Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

ii Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test
accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D.
Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards
and Procedure for Award of M.Phil. /Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and
their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from
NET/SLET/SET.
iii Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009,
shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances / Bye-laws /
Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall
be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and
appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities / Colleges
/ Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions: -
a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode.
b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted.
d) The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work,
out of which at least one is in a refereed journal.
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work
in conferences/ seminars sponsored/ funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR /
CSIR or any similar agency.
The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean
(Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.

Note: NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Master Programmes in
disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test
accredited by the UGC.
OR
B The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a
ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of
the following:
(i). Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
(ii). The Times Higher Education (THE) or
(iii). The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao
Tong University (Shanghai).

Note: The Academic score as specified in Appendix-C shall be considered for short-listing of
Assistant Professor Candidates for interview only, and the selection shall be based only on
the performance in the interview.

Age Limit: Not more than 38 years. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be
applicable as per the Government of Maharashtra norms issued from time to time.

B. Associate Professor (Level – 13A1, Entry Pay Rs.131400/-):

Essential Qualifications

(a) Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and First class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or
Master’s level in the relevant branch
AND
(b) At least total 6 research publications in SCI journals / UGC / AICTE approved list of journals.
AND
(c) Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching/research / industry out of which at least 2
years shall be post Ph.D. experience.

Desirable:
Post Ph.D. publications and guiding Ph.D. students are highly desirable. Copies of 3 (SCI / SCIE /
Scopus) journal papers in respective discipline need to be attached with this application.

Age Limit:
Not more than 50 years. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be applicable as
per the Government of Maharashtra norms issued from time to time.

C. Professor (Level – 14, Entry Pay Rs.144200/-)

Essential Qualifications for Professor

(a) Ph. D. degree in relevant field and First class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s
level in the relevant branch.
AND
(b) Minimum of 10 years of experience in teaching / research / industry out of which at least 3
years shall be at the post equivalent to that of an Associate Professor.
AND
(c) At least 6 research publications at the level of Associate Professor in SCI journals / UGC /AICTE
approved list of journals and at least 2 successful Ph.D. guided as Supervisor / Co-supervisor till
the last date of submission of the application.
OR
At least 10 research publications at the level of Associate Professor in SCI journals / UGC /
AICTE approved list of journals till the last date of submission of the application.

Desirable:
Post Ph.D. publications and guiding Ph.D. students are highly desirable. Copies of 5 (SCI / SCIE /
Scopus) journal papers in respective discipline to be attached with this application.

Age Limit:
Not more than 54 years. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be applicable as
per the Government of Maharashtra norms issued from time to time.

7. Additional Qualifications:
a. Passing Certificate for any one of the 'C.C.A' or 'O' level or 'A' level or 'B' level or 'C' level
authorized examination of D.O.E.A.C.C., Society, New Delhi.
OR
b. Passing Certificate of MS-CIT Examination of Maharashtra State Technical Education Board,
Mumbai-400 001.

The above additional qualification is not necessary for the candidates having Bachelor's or
Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Technology and
Computer Application.

c. Passing of Marathi Language Examination (As per Government of Maharashtra norms)

8. Important Instructions:
1. Selected candidates shall be on a probation period of two years from the date of joining.
2. DCPS/NPS will be applicable as per the Government of Maharashtra, rules/norms.
3. Experience Certificates should clearly mention the nature of the appointment, period of
appointment and the scale of pay.
4. Experience at stretch for a period of six months and above shall only be considered as a valid
experience.
5. The academic qualification and experience acquired as of the last date of submission of the
application form will be taken into account for determining the eligibility of candidate/s for the
post and for selecting them for the interview.
6. Appointment orders and Relieving orders will not be considered in lieu of Experience
Certificates, and such experience shall not be counted.
7. Application must be accompanied by a Passport size Photograph of the candidate along with
photocopies of the relevant documents indicating qualification, age, category, experience etc.
and online payment receipt, failing which the application will be treated as incomplete and
liable to be summarily rejected.
8. The candidates who want to apply for more than one post must submit separate applications,
as well as, separate online payments for application processing as mentioned above.
9. Candidates must produce all original certificates at the time of interview. No extension of time
will be granted to him/her and he/she will not be interviewed, if he/she fails to produce any
original certificates.
10. As per Notification No SRV.2000/CR (17/2000) XII, dated 28th March 2005 issued by G.A.D
Mantralaya, Mumbai, a candidate shall submit the declaration of the small family in the
prescribed proforma attached to the application.
11. The decision of the appointing authority will be final and binding on the candidate and no
correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
12. No correspondence with ineligible candidates will be made.
13. Any dispute related to this advertisement is subject to Mumbai jurisdiction only.
14. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for attending written tests, presentations and
interviews.

15. Candidates who are already employed must send their applications through the proper channel.
16. Applicants are required to account for the breaks, if any, in their service.
17. Candidates must attach the self-attested photocopies of all supporting documents with the duly
filled application form.
18. Applications received after the last date due to any reason including postal delay i.e. by
post/courier/hand/messenger will not be entertained and responsibility in this regard will solely
rest with the concerned candidate. Applications received by email / Fax will NOT be considered.
19. Canvassing in any form will lead to the disqualification of the candidate.
20. Equivalent disciplines will be as per G. R. No. Misc.-2013/(45/13)/T.E.-2 dt.23/05/2014.
21. The service conditions of employees of this Institute are governed by Government of
Maharashtra norms.

9. Interview Schedule and Mode of Selection:


1. In case of a large response for the post of Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor / Professor,
the Institute may conduct a written test for the shortlisting. Qualified candidates in the test will
be called for the presentation and interview.
2. The details regarding the schedule of the written test, presentation and interview will be
displayed on the website of the institute and will not be communicated to the candidate
separately.
