Fever Relief of mild to moderate pain like headaches, muscular aches, colds, inoculations and vaccinations.
CNS: headache CV: chestpain, dyspnea, myocardial damage when doses of 5-8g/day are ingested daily. GI: hepatic toxicity, jaundice. GU: acute kidney failure, renal tubular necrosis. Hematologic: cyanosis, hemolytic anemia, hematuria, anuria, leucopenia, hypoglycemia. Hypersensitivity: Rash, fever.
-Do not exceed the recommended dosage. -Discontinue drug if hypersensitivity reactions occur. -Give drug with food if GI upset occurs. -Do not take for longer than 10days. -Take drug only for complaints indicated; its not an anti-inflammatory agent. -Report rash, unusual bleeding or bruising, yellowing of skin or eye, changes in voiding patterns. -Consult physician for use in children >2y/o. -Do not crush or chew sustainedrelease or enteric coated form.

Treatment of infections caused by Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenza, enterococci, grampositive organisms. Treatment for meningitis.
CNS: hallucinations, seizures. CV: CHF GI: stomatitis, gastritis, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea, enterocolitis, nonspecific hepatitis. GU: Nephritis Hematologic: anemia, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, prolonged bleeding time. Hypersensitivity: rash, fever, wheezing, anaphylaxis. Local: Pain, phlebitis, thrombosis at injection site.
-Assess allergies to penicillins or other allergens. -Check IV site carefully for signs of thrombosis/drug reactions. -Do not give IM injections in the same time; atrophy can occur. -This antibiotic is specific to your problem and should not be used to selftreat other infections. -Report if the patient experienced discomfort at sites, unusual bleeding/bruising, mouth sores, rash, hives, fever, itching, severe diarrhea, difficulty of breathing.

Short-term treatment of serious susceptible infections, including septicemia, respiratory tract, bones and joints, meningitis, peritonitis, burns, post operative infections, complicated and recurrent UITs that are not susceptible to other antibiotics.

-Assess if patient is allergic to amikacin or to any amynoglycoside antibiotics. -Discontinue is auditory, vestibular or renal dysfunction develops. -Monitor serum levels periodically. -Maintain adequate hydration. -Observe site for extravasation during administration. -Watch s/sx for super infections such as continued fever or chills. -Observe for signs of renal, hepatic and hematological dysfunction during prolonged therapy. -Store prepared syringes in fridge.
