What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that you

My inquiry question is:

How Does Singing Help with Mental Health

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect to
your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

Singing well has long been one of my biggest concerns. When I saw a singer on TV singing
beautifully, I thought that I would like to sing well like that. I love to sing, so I sang every day and
tried to find a way to sing better. As a result, I couldn't sing well, but my skills improved a little, and I
felt proud when I sang in front of people and received applause.

The reason why I ask the question "How does singing affect mental health" is because I think that
singing gives people happiness and confidence and is healthy, but I wonder how it actually is. I
chose my project as a lesson video. Because of that, I wondered if people's mental health would
improve if they were good at singing, and what effect the singing itself had on the mind.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this area of
inquiry?

Singing is closely related to music. Singers sing and give the audience various emotions such as
emotion, excitement, sincerity, and excitement. It is also a well-known fact that music can wake up
people who have been unconscious for a long time. There are anecdotes that if you play a song,
you often listened to before losing consciousness, your brain will be stimulated, and you will regain
consciousness.

People feel fun, confidence, etc. when they sing. But not everyone sings well, and not everyone
feels that way. Still, many people want to learn singing, and gain confidence when they actually
improve their skills. Because everyone's vocal cords are different in shape, each person's voice
and range are different. Still, vocals can be learned and improved. The range of vocals is diverse
and includes techniques such as posture, breathing, muscle control, and emotional control.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What connections
does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

I'm still not sure about my career path, but as a singer, this question is to help for clearing my
curiosity and help me learn more about singing and mental health.

For my Capstone presentation medium, the PPT will be the basis of my presentation and help the
listener to understand what I have been through and achieved through pictures. The website will be
used to show proof of my Capstone Updates and finally YouTube will be used to show the results
I've created..

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what will
you research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced at the end
of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your proposal.
My capstone project is to create a vocal lesson channel. Through this, I will learn vocal knowledge
and also provide it to people. The video will show explanations and examples of what is required
for vocals and will be available via YouTube. My capstone project is to create a vocal lesson

I will do research to gather information first. Since the main thing in my project is vocal information,
research is a very important task for this project. Information on vocals will be gathered through J-
Star, other YouTube videos, and the websites of vocal instructors. I will be gathering three big
pieces of information: how to hold your posture when singing, how to breathe, and vocal registers.
This information will be used by me to create a script for a video and will be needed for me to
create a demonstration videos.

As I said before, I will make a script based on the information in the notes, and through this, I will
tell you why you need good posture when singing, why you need good breathing, and why you
need to use various vocal registers. I will write what the exercises are. Since I still have a language
barrier, obviously the information I am trying to convey may not be conveyed to people, but this part
will be supplemented by my English tutor, and my English tutor has a lot of choral experience since

 I was young, so if there is any information that is a little strange to me, It will be corrected by the
tutor.

When I finish the script, I will start video and recording in earnest. The video will proceed according
to the script I wrote, and while I am showing examples of how to practice, I will separate the video
and recording and focus more on the scene where I practice. Also, while filming, there will be a lot
of mistakes because of my language barrier. Recording can make the mistakes made naturally
through editing, but video is not, so I will have to keep re-shooting the video until I am satisfied with
it.

I will try to make the video editing easier to distinguish in the video by section, and in the example
practice video, I will use arrows and other logos to visually understand my pronunciation that is
difficult to understand in the video. Other parts use background music and screen transition effects
to add fun to the video, and finally, a subtitle function will be added so that you can understand my
words with subtitles when uploading to YouTube.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and skills you
will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to access/learn all of the
resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail your plans.

There are several technologies needed to make my project. To create a YouTube channel, you
must be able to create YouTube banners and profile pictures using graphic design, and editing
skills such as cut, adding, adding, and background music are required to edit videos. Graphic
design will be made using free websites Canva and LogoMakr, and editing will be done using a
program called CapCut, which will not be difficult to learn.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will you

I would identify my mentor as someone with a lot of musical knowledge and experience as a choir
or vocal trainer. I think that my research will find areas that are lacking or need to be supplemented,

and provide vocalization techniques, information, and methods, which will help create and provide
better projects.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee that
might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

The biggest limitation of my project is my language skills. Because I am very weak in language, it is
not easy to read sentences, so the video can only be a little awkward and not smooth. Although this
can be solved a little through background music, it is true that it still feels awkward. There is also a
limit called video editing. I'm not a professional video editor, so the video may feel a little sloppy.
This is something hard to change unless I become an expert for editing.

Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about your
project that you feel should be included in your project proposal.

Since I came up with my project idea late and the project itself started late, I think it will be difficult
to find a mentor, and it will not be an easy task because the process of editing the information and
video required for the project takes a long time.
