HIGH-TECH
ARCHITECTURE
Influenced by engineering and new technology, High Tech is a style that
accentuates a building’s construction.
High Tech was a development in British Modernist architecture from the late
1960s. It was a concept of design, based on engineering, construction and
other aspects, such as the manipulation of space. High Tech was marked by a
preference for lightweight materials and sheer surfaces, a readiness to adopt
new techniques from engineering and other technologies, and the
celebratory display of a building’s construction and services.

a modern architectural movement that exaggerates the impression of a
structure and technology
building. The characteristics that become a reference for high tech
architecture are buildings
made of synthetic materials such as metal, glass and plastic.

rue Montorgueil, and the Marais. It was designed in the
style of high-tech architecture by the architectural team of
Richard Rogers, Su Rogers, Renzo Piano, along with

NEO
VERNACULAR
ARCHITECTURE
Neo Vernacular architecture can be interpreted as original architecture built by
the local community with a new concept, both in terms of workmanship (use of
technology) and materials (modern materials). Neo Vernacular Architecture is
one of the ideologies or streams that developed in the Post-Modern era,
namely the architectural flow that emerged in the mid-1960s. Post-Modern
was born because in the modern era dissatisfaction arose from architects with
patterns that seemed monotonous (boxy buildings).

Neo Vertical Architecture is an architectural approach that emphasizes the use

of strong vertical elements in building designs. The term "neo" indicates that it
is a new development or interpretation of a vertical approach in architecture.
This approach involves emphasizing vertical elements such as towers,
columns, or other vertical structures that dominate the composition of the
building.

CONCLUSION

Neo Vernacular Architecture is an architectural approach that involves the

construction of original buildings by local communities with new concepts,
incorporating modern technology and materials. It emerged during the Post-
Modern era as a response to dissatisfaction with monotonous architectural
patterns. On the other hand, Neo Vertical Architecture emphasizes the use of
strong vertical elements in building designs, such as towers and columns, to
create visually impactful and monumental structures. While Neo Vernacular
Architecture focuses on blending traditional and modern elements, Neo
Vertical Architecture emphasizes verticality in its designs. Both approaches
aim to create innovative and visually striking architectural designs.
PRINCIPLES
1) Direct Relationship
is a creative and adaptive development of local architecture adapted to the
values/functions of the current building.

2) Abstract Relationship

includes interpretation into usable building forms through analysis of

cultural traditions and architectural heritage.

3) Landscape Relationship
reflect and interpret the environment such as physical conditions including
topography and climate
PRINCIPLES
4) Contemporary Relationships
P includes selecting the use of technology, the form of ideas that are
relevant to the architectural concept program

5) Future Relationships

is a consideration in anticipating future conditions.
