Vitro Fertilization -Embryo Transfer
(IVF-ET)

IVF-ET is the first choice of treatment in cases of

infertility due to severe tubal damage and/or
extensive and dense pelvic adhesions. In cases of
infertility with normal tubes, intrauterine
inseminations in 3 to 4 controlled hyperstimulated
cycles are recommended before indicating an
assisted fertilization procedure. The most risky
complication of assisted reproduction, besides
multiple pregnancy, is severe ovarian
hyperstimulation syndrome (SOHS).

Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (
GIFT)

Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) is

a three-step procedure that involves
removing the eggs, combining them
with sperm, and immediately placing
them in the fallopian tubes, where the
egg is fertilized. The woman is given
follicle-stimulating drugs to increase
her chances of producing multiple eggs.

Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (
ZIFT)

Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) is similar

to GIFT, but also uses in vitro fertilization
(IVF). Eggs are stimulated and collected using
IVF methods. Then the eggs are mixed with
sperm in the lab. Fertilized eggs (zygotes) are
then returned to the fallopian tubes with
laparascopic surgery. From there, they will be
carried into the uterus. The goal is for the
zygote to implant in the uterus and develop
into a fetus.

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

A frozen embryo transfer (FET) is a cycle where

a frozen embryo from a previous fresh IVF
cycle is thawed and transferred back into a
woman's uterus. This means you won't have to
undergo another cycle of hormone stimulation
and an egg collection. Frozen embryo cycles
can be undertaken on your natural cycle or
using hormone preparation, or ovulation
induction.

QUESTION:

ANSWER:
a. Artificial Reproductive Technology (ART)
includes in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer
(IVF-ET), gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT),
zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), and frozen
embryo transfer (FET). These techniques also
apply to oocyte donation and gestational
carriers. Approximately 99 percent of ART cycles
performed are IVF-ET. IVF-ET has helped many
couples conceive successfully. ART may be
recommended when other treatments (such as
intrauterine insemination) have not been
successful or when there is severe male factor
infertility, severe endometriosis or tubal
obstruction.
b. The IVF program has enormous benefits
for married couples who want to have
children but cannot get pregnant. Of course,
this program can also pose a risk in the event
of abuse if it is carried out by people who are
ethical, have faith, and have no religion. IVF
is not a perfect method without risks and
without downsides. Moreover, this program
is only a program designed by humans to
overcome various problems in the world.
Certainly not without flaws. Even programs
designed by God still have risk factors when
run by humans. but regardless of the risks of
taking IVF programs, this program can still
be the right solution, especially for couples
who have wanted a baby but have not yet been
blessed with one. In vitro fertilization (IVF) or
more commonly known as IVF is a
fertilization program or bringing together
sperm cells and egg cells outside the uterus.
c. The impact of it will be a great
loss and might cause couples to
be dissatisfied of their own
marriage. Because in reality the
reason for marriage for most is
for procreation. If this is the
goal of the marriage, it will fail.
If this is also the ultimate goal of
one person, they will feel that
they failed at life.
