Introduction 2
Pregnancy at a young age is a huge problem that negatively impacts individuals' and communities'
physical, social, and financial well-being worldwide. Despite many studies on teenage pregnancy, there is
still a lack of consensus on the causes, consequences, and effective interventions to address this issue. As
a result, this study aims to investigate and better understand the lived experiences of students in high
school who become pregnant at a young age. (WHO, 2023)
The importance of the study cannot be overstated because it sheds light on the experiences of
senior high school students who become pregnant, which research generally ignores. These factors include
the participants' experiences, views, and attitudes concerning sexuality and contraception. This study's
findings could be used in developing appropriate treatments to minimize the number of adolescent
pregnancies and increase the health and well-being of students in secondary schools.
The research is essential for several other reasons, including the fact that it adds to the existing
body of knowledge regarding the problem of teen pregnancy. Research studies on adolescent pregnancy
frequently focus on the general population, ignoring the perspectives of specific groups like students in
secondary schools. This study will contribute to the development of particular solutions that can be used to
address the problem as well as provide a more in-depth understanding of the issue itself.
The results of this research may have significant repercussions for the community as a whole,
especially for children and parents enrolled in secondary schools, as well as educators and decision-
makers. This study may result in the creation of initiatives that aim to improve sexual health education for
secondary school students and increase their access to contraceptives. The social and economic
problems, such as poverty and a lack of education, that contribute to teen pregnancy could also be
addressed through the initiatives.
In addition, the research has the potential to assist in the fight against the stigma and
discrimination that teenage pregnancy suffers in today's culture. The study may lead to a greater
understanding of the struggles of adolescent pregnancy.
Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, many teenagers become pregnant because of a lack of sex
education. This study will provide insights into the lived experience of teenage pregnancy and inform policy
and practice to improve maternal and child health outcomes. It also provides an in-depth understanding of
the struggles of untimely pregnancy among adolescents.
Moreover, this research aimed to investigate the personal experiences of senior high school
students who have been pregnant and to comprehend the elements that lead to the prevalence of teen
pregnancy. The study's findings could be utilized to develop appropriate treatments to reduce the number
of teenage pregnancies among students enrolled in SHS and promote the students' health and well-being.
The study can contribute to a better understanding of the problem of untimely pregnancy experienced
among adolescents.
According to the Guidance Office of Agusan National High School's Senior High Department, (34
students) in different strands have experienced an untimely pregnancy.
