CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

This chapter is divided into five parts: (1) Background of the Study, (2) Conceptual

Framework, (3) Statement of the Problem, (4) Definition of Terms, (5) Significance of the Study,

and, (6) Scope and Delimitation of the Study.

Part One, Background of the Study, includes the potential contribution of the study,

glimpse of related literature and studies, and the discussion of the identified research gap.

Part Two, Conceptual Framework, shows the relationships of the key concepts involved

in the study. Lines and arrows are used to show relationships and connections between variables.

Part Three, Statement of the Problem, indicates the purpose of the investigation generally

and specifically use both descriptive and inferential questions. The null hypothesis is stated after

the inferential question.

Part Four, Definition of Terms, alphabetically lists and defines the constructs and

variables in study for clarity and understanding.

Part Five, Significance of the study, includes the benefits to be derived from the results of

the study.

Part Six, Scope and Delimitation of the study, gives the brief and concise scope or

boundaries of the study.

Background of the Study

Guide (remove texts in red fonts when done): Discusses briefly the research problem and gap

and mainly answers the “What” and “Why”. There are many forms/formats/theories to follow in

writing the background of the study as a guide to its content and structure. You as a researcher

may choose or it may vary how you perceive yourself as a researcher and connects it to your

preference of writing your background of the study. Preferably, it must include the discussion

about the critical issue/theme/concept, past situation, present/existing situation and the rationale

of the study.

Conceptual Framework

Guide (remove texts in red fonts when done): It identifies and shows the relationship of variables

in the study. Connective symbols are very critical in the paradigm as prelude to the reader on how

the research questions will be stated and the parameters of variables in the study. Use the

collected literature and studies to identify the variables in your conceptual framework. Use

connectors such as lines and lines with arrowheads to show which type of variable is being

observed, controlled, and measured in the framework.

 General Objective – Mainly state the essential objective of the study. It must specify the

participants, time interval, research design, and variables.

 Specific Research Question

1. Descriptive Research Question DRQ – It mainly focuses on answering

quantitatively/qualitatively the collected descriptive data.

2. Inferential Research Question IRQ – It seeks to answer the significance of the

relationship of variables. It is a yes-no question appended mostly with the word

“significant”. It implies that the researcher is interested in the significant numeric

details of the relationship between variables.

 Hypothesis – There is a hypothesis if an inferential research question IRQ is stated in the

specific research question.

Definition of Terms

variables and intervention of the study. Terms to be defined should be written in Bold and Italic,

and alphabetically arranged.

 Conceptual Definition – a definition of the main variable and intervention taken from

books, journals, dictionaries, etc. with proper citation (APA style).

 Operational Definition – a definition of the main variable and intervention based on its

“use” in the study.

Significance of the Study

Teachers, School Administrators, Future Researchers, and among others, and their benefits to

the study. Identify at least 5 beneficiaries of your research and discuss what they can benefit from

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

of the study, variables and sample participants. It should follow in this order: General Objective,

CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

In order to determine the data and information to be authentic and legitimate, this chapter

will confirm and validate through the precursor studies that were conducted and gathered

information from different locations both local and foreign in varying degrees of interpretation

and different methods of data gathering and methodology which have a definite relation and

resemblance that can aid in the development of researcher’s current study.

Related Literature

manner of presentation, discusses the history, origin, cultural context and other branching

terminology with proper citation. You may download articles in the google scholar and properly

sort which information suits to your study. Selects, cites and synthesizes related literature uses

sources according to ethical standards (at least 4-6 local and international sources). To sort

literature discussions, you may break down to sub-topics.

CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHOD

This chapter consists mainly of three parts, research design, method and ethical

consideration. Method has five sub-parts, respondents of the study, data gathering instrument,

data collection procedure, plan for data analysis, and statistical tools.

Part One, Research Design, it defines the research design used in the study.

Part Two, Method, it discusses the respondents of the study, the data gathering

instrument, the data gathering procedure, the data analysis procedure, and the data analysis tools

to be used.

Part Three, Ethical Consideration, it surmises the ethical issues concerning the parameters

set in the study such as the participants and the setting of the study.

within qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches that provide specific direction for

CHAPTER 4

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter contains the interpretation and analysis of collected data. The discussion of

results followed the order of the research questions in the statement. It was as well sorted based

on the data collected.

In case of a mixed research approach, the interpretation and analysis of the quantitative

data was discussed first. It was followed by the discussion of results of qualitative data.

CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter is divided into three parts: (1) Summary of Findings, (2) Conclusions, and

(3) Recommendations.

Part One, Summary of Findings, collected data were grouped into meaningful

information in which it will specifically answer the four specific questions.

Part Two, Conclusions, collected data were synthesized to construct a concrete

conclusion that answers the four specific questions.

Part Four, Recommendations of the Study, discussed and thoroughly expounded the

significance of the study based on the implications both in theory and practice.

Summary of Findings

the study excluding numeric data. Findings are organized by topics to jibe with the sub-problem

questions.

Conclusions

Guide (remove texts in red fonts when done): Conclusions – are drawn from the findings of the

study. Avoid restating the findings of the study. In drawing the conclusion statements, the

following must be considered:

1. Each conclusion is briefly worded in a general statement that answers directly in

sequential order, each of the questions or the sub-problems/hypotheses posed at

the outset of the study.

2. It is exclusively derived from each of the significant findings of the study;

3. It does not repeat the figures or data evidence that was previously discussed in

the preceding chapter;

4. If the conclusion holds true only for a limited sample group that was studied, it is

tacitly admitted.
