ULUWATU

Bali is a very famous province in Indonesia and around the world. Bali is located on the
islands of Java and Lombok. It has many lovers who want to visit the region with its beautiful
nature. One of them is in Uluwatu district. It is located in the south of Bali, a region in the
southwest of the Bukit Peninsula, explicitly in the village of Pecatu in Badung Regency. It
only takes 1 hour by private car from Ngurah Rai Airport.

The nickname Uluwatu comes in distinction to the word ulu meaning “end of the world“
and watu meaning “rock”. This village is a very famous village which is a major tourist
attraction is Uluwatu Temple. Most of the locals believe in Hinduism. Uluwatu Temple is
believed to have been built by Mpu Kutran or Mpu Rajakreta during the marriage kingdom of
Sri Msula-Masuli in the 9th century. It is home to Bali’s most important temple, Kahyangan
Jagat, called Padma Bhuwana, and Sad Kahyangan temple, Bali’s pillar

Uluwatu Temple has similarities with Dalem Serangan Temple, an archaeological relic
on Serangan Island, in terms of construction and materials used. Dougong temple is made of
stone materials, the direction of the temple is east, and the prayer direction is west. The length
of the temple bracket is Length 920 cm, Thickness 180 cm. Dougong temple is divided into
three parts such as legs, trunk and roof.

On a cliff rising 150 meters above the sea is a temple of historical value, the Uluwatu
Temple, built in the tenth century. It will be amazed by the beauty of the forest to the right
and left of the temple. The place is also fun with monkeys roaming freely around the temple.
Just watch out for the monkeys because sometimes they like to steal things like hats, caps,
glasses or earrings, or interesting things.
Visitors can enjoy the outdoor Kecak dance on the performance tour right next to
Uluwatu Temple. Kecak dance is performance because it is sacred to Balinese Hindus. It is
usually performed in a circle of 70 people and the dancers tell the story of Ramayana. The
character used is plaid, which adds a divine feeling to the story. Combine outfits with
decorations for all dancers. Usually, the performance can be enjoy for 20 minutes.

Besides seeing the Kecak dance, tourists can also see the immense beauty of the Indian
Ocean and the waves crashing on the cliffs. Enjoy romantic views of violets and sunsets
without moving or leaving it. In Uluwatu, can not only relax and watch the sunset, but also
try to ride the waves, it is very high, reaching 3-12 meters and the average wavelength is 3-5
meters.
