    I. Objectives

    At the end of 45 minutes with 80% level of proficiency the students should be able
    to:

    a. identify the elements of poetry


    b. differentiate each element of poetry
    c. elaborate the importance of the elements of poetry.

    A. Preliminary Activities

    1. Opening prayer

    Everyone please stand up for our prayer. - the pupil’s will stand up and
    Jessica will lead the prayer.
    2. Greetings

    Good morning class!

    3. Setting of classroom standard

    Class, what are you going to do if the class are - sit properly
    going on? - listen carefully

    to answer or to ask questions.

    - refers to the expressing a

    ELEMENTS OF POETRY

    Figurative Language

    So there are different kinds of figurative


    language:
    1. Simile - the comparison of two things using
    “like” or “as”.

    Example: She is sweet as a candy.

    2. Metaphor - two things are compared


    without using “like” or “as”.

    Example: Men are dogs.

    3. Personification - giving human traits to


    objects or ideas.

    Example: The streets are calling me.

    4. Hyperbole - exaggerating to show strong


    feelings or effect.

    Example: I will love you forever.

    5. Onomatopoeia - a word that makes a


    sound.

    Example: SPLAT! PING! POP!

    6. Idiom - a saying that isn’t meant to be


    taken literally. Doesn’t “mean” what it says.

    Example: You’re the apple of my eye.

    D. Generalization

    So we have a recap on what we have - teacher it refers to the


    discussed earlier. Again what is poetry? expressing a feeling or an idea
    using figurative or symbolic

    the lyrics.
