PODCAST LA ESQUINA

G: Hello everyone here from the CORNER once again.

We are one more week like every Wednesday with the most relevant topic of each week. So here we go, Today I am
accompanied by one of the people who knows more soccer than I know in my life.
Great to see you and now enjoy this conversation that is coming, right, and we are both
so passionate about it, with all of you Mir Mendiguri. How are you? How do you feel?
M: I feel good Guillermo, and happy to be on your podcast for the first time and even more so to talk
about the classic, it's an authentic pleasure, you know, this game is the most watched in the world,
I love being here and touching on this topic that we are both passionate about as you said.
G: That’s right, today, friends, we will be talking about the classic, Barcelona vs Real Madrid.
Decisive match to reach the final of the renewed King's Cup.
It will be the fourth match this year between two of the biggest clubs in the world,
as we well know, it is always a very even match but this time Real Madrid won.
Well, Mir, where did you see the game?
M: They meet again in less than a month. (G: It’s true) I saw it at house with one of my friends, Kevin.
He came and we spent time at home early on, we put meat on the grill, we had a few beers,
and we had some very pleasant conversations since I had not seen him for a long time.
Nothing, the truth is that we had a spectacular day but as we know not so much because of
the final result that it left me a little sad to be honest, I won't lie to you, it left me a little touched.
G: I know, you are a staunch supporter of Barcelona since I met you
I can imagine how much fun you had that day, but it is never nice when your team
gets four goals and at their own house, in the Camp Nou. Do you think the result was fair?
M: I think it was fair, although it is true Barcelona started very strong, with high pressure, the famous press high, it deflated
at minute fifteen due to a good collective game from Real Madrid that took over the game
until the end. Let's not forget that Barcelona had the advantage from the previous match last month.
They had to manage the game but as we know in football everything happens
and more if it is against a Real Madrid that has already been demonstrated knows
how to play very well the important and decisive games in knockout boxes.
G: Exactly, Barcelona had the advantage, although it is true it was a single goal, they had to play with that,
it is a semi-final, everyone knows that Real Madrid is a wolf stalking its prey when
it comes to direct eliminations and it demonstrated who gave him a football review
and will now play the final against Osasuna. Who do you think was the best man of the match?
M: The player who stood out the most, in my opinion, and I think we all agree the same,
it was the great Karim Benzema, scoring a hat trick, but without forgetting also Vinicius Junior
who was the one who gave the 2 assists and scored a goal taking the lead in the match and also
Modric who managed to give a pass to Benzema. For you Guillermo, who was the best player?
G: I’m agree with you, for me the featured player was also the Frenchman, he gave a master class on
how to play this type of match, super important in instances of a final so coveted by both teams.
In general, all of Madrid had a good individual and collective performance, for me the best game
of the season. Who do you think will win the King's Cup? Osasuna or Real Madrid?
M: I think that Real Madrid will win because they have a good squad and they have
more possibilities to play but do not forget Osasuna because they also have good players
like “El Chimy” Avila, a fantastic striker, or David García who is having a good season or his couch
Jagoba Arrasate, a fantastic young coach called to do great feats in European football among others,
but they will not have it very easy to say it.
G: I agree with you, it's a difficult team and it's a final but we already know what is say about Real Madrid
They don't play the finals, they win them. In any case, since the match is in Seville,
I think it will be a party and a very attractive match, because in that part of Spain, Andalusia,
they live football in a different way and just for that reason I already want to see the game.
It will be a wonderful match and I'm sure we'll enjoy it. Do we see it together or what?
M: Wonderful idea, it would be good to start planning where we see it and then have a good time, I also tell you that I
bought a huge television if you want you can stop by my house and we can see the game there.
G: Say no more, it's done, we'll see it at your house,
now we'll coordinate the details outside and leave everything ready for that day.
As we know, everything has an end and we come to the end of this podcast. To finish, I would like
to thank you for taking the time to be here. It is a real pleasure to talk about football with you.
M: It's nothing Guillermo, the honor is mine.
G: And to end, as with every person who comes here, to the podcast,
I leave it up to you to say goodbye, and say a few final words.
As always listeners from all over the world, it is a great pleasure that you are there
on the other side listening, thank you so much with all my hearth,
see you next week with more and now Mir, say what you have to say
M: Well, nothing that I am very grateful for having been here, I appreciate the visibility and being
able to give my humble opinion from my position, play sports, eat healthy and not do evil.
