One might think that fever is bad, but in some cases, it is actually good. Fever is the natural
response of the body as it fights germs. It occurs when an army of white blood cells come
together to battle against germs and viruses.

The body gets hotter the faster the white blood cells attack. Variations in body temperature are
fine, but when it rises beyond 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 37 degrees Celsius, it becomes a
condition known as fever.

There are many reasons that people get fever. They may have infections caused by
viruses, or they may have sustained an injury such as a sports injury or a head injury.
