LOCUS OF DECISION MAKING

Programmed or non-programmed decisions are two different classifications of decision

making. In the case of our company, Mawar Kasturi Enterprise used programmed decision-
making to solve the difficulty that our company was facing. Non-programmed choices, on the
other hand, are unstructured and need higher-level management, and are frequently tailored to
a specific, uncommon, or exceptional issue. We as a large hijab business, must affirm that our
choice is the correct one in the long term. Mawar Kasturi Enterprise used the decision-
making process for both programmed and non-programmed decisions to resolve challenges
that our organization was dealing with to guarantee that we made the proper conclusion.

PROGRAMME DECISIONS:

Every year, Mawar Kasturi Enterprise has to deal with difficulties raised by its workers,
therefore we've come up with a plan to address it.

STEP 1: IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES AND DIAGNOSING PROBLEMS

Our store is often confronted with workers who arrive beyond their scheduled start time.

STEP 2: IDENTIFYING OBJECTIVES

Mawar Kasturi Enterprise is looking for people who are disciplined, timely, kind, and adept
at working in groups.

7
STEP 3: GENERATING ALTERNATIVES

If an employee is late, the manager in charge will meet with them individually and ask them
to explain why they're late. In addition, the company will provide a warning letter and
subsequent warning letters before suspending an employee after three warning letters have
been sent to that employee. We will then terminate that employee.

STEP 4: EVALUATING ALTERNATIVES

To determine which choices were most successful, the company conducted some research.
They may find out more about why the employee is usually late for work by having a
conversation with their management about their issues on that day, for example. They may
also get paid by the firm if they wish to open up about their issues. After that, suspend or fire
the employee after giving them a warning letter at least three times. People who don't want to
lose their jobs have second opportunities at work due to the company's open-door policy.

STEP 5: REACHING DECISIONS

It was determined that the organization should combine the two options after the management
considered all of the possibilities. Both options have their advantages.

STEP 6: CHOOSING IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES

Late workers get a letter from the employer informing them of the consequences. On the
other hand, the manager will arrange a private meeting and discussion with the employee to
address the issue of his or her tardiness. If there was an issue or a good explanation for their
tardiness. The manager will assist them in resolving their issue and may even be able to offer
them a shot. However, if they continue to act negligently, the employer has the authority to
terminate their employment at any time.

STEP 7: MONITORING AND EVALUATING FEEDBACK

After 7 months, the employer will evaluate the results by assessing the employee's
punctuality on the job. Steps 1, 2, and 3 will be repeated if necessary, until the issue is
resolved.

8
NON-PROGRAMME DECISIONS:

In our store, we have two options when it comes to making hijabs: The first is stitched by a
machine, while the second is stitched by hand. On the other hand, the machine has been
discovered to be quite complex and has more functions than the previous one, while the
initial setup of the hand sewing requires more tailors to avoid having to scramble while
supplies are fast depleting. For this reason, we use a systematic approach to concluding.

STEP 1: IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES AND DIAGNOSING PROBLEM

Our organization must decide whether the old embroidery machine should be kept or if a new
one should be purchased, or if two of the old machines should be used
simultaneously.Otherwise, we'll have to decide whether to pay additional tailors to stitch our
hijabs by hand.

STEP 2: IDENTIFYING OBJECTIVES

The goal of Mawar Kasturi Enterprise is to provide a wide variety of fashionable and unique
designs of hijab.

STEP 3: GENERATING ALTERNATIVES

Our organization has the option and will choose to either replace the old machine with a new
one or maintain the old one and add a new one before making a final judgment on which is
best.

STEP 4: EVALUATING ALTERNATIVES

We'll examine both new and old machines, as well as the prices and other crucial features, as
we go through the process.

STEP 5: REACHING DECISION

All of the options have been evaluated, and we've decided to maintain the old machine while
simultaneously trying out a new one.

STEP 6: CHOOSING IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES

The previous machine will be kept by the corporation, but its usage will be restricted for the
next six months while the new user is tested.

9
STEP 7: MONITORING AND EVALUATING FEEDBACK

The new equipment's efficiency and monetary impact will be assessed six months after it is
put into service by our company, which will then make an informed choice about whether or
not to proceed. If a difficulty is encountered, the procedure moves back to either steps 1, 2, or
3 and the remaining stages are repeated.

MOTIVATION

People are motivated by a set of influences that compel them to act in various ways. This is a
psychological process that provides conduct meaning and direction. Motivation may also be
defined as the management process of influencing people's behavior to achieve a specific
goal. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory has been used by Mawar Kasturi Enterprise to
encourage their employees and personnel. Physiological needs, safety or security needs,
social or belonging needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs are all included in this
theory. We use Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory because our employees feel safe and
secure in their job. Other than that, it improves the management capabilities our company at
the higher level.

Diagram 2 : Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs

PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS

Physiological needs are the most fundamental need for our survival. Basic needs such as food,
water, and shelter are just a few examples. People require all of this in order to live.
Organizational salaries and work environment as an illustration of physiological necessities.

10
SAFETY OR SECURITY NEEDS

Safety needs are the second tier after physiological needs. Safety needs for protection against
threats or unsafe working environment such as job security and predictable work environment.
A closed-circuit camera (CCTV) is installed in all factory and office buildings, for example,
to protect workers and prevent theft. To avoid mishaps, every machine and office equipment
shall be maintained at regular intervals.

SOCIAL AND BELONGINGNESS NEEDS

The requirement for companionship or friendship, to provide love, and to experience a sense
of belonging is known as belonging or social necessities. Employees require a social
connection in order to feel like they are a member of the team or work group. In order to
further build their solidarity, Mawar Kasturi Enterprise has scheduled events for their
employees, such as anniversary company, Zuhr and Asr prayers, and a Hari Raya open house.

ESTEEM NEEDS

It's also known as the requirement for growth. This is the need for personal feelings of
achievement and self-worth and by recognition, respect, and prestige from others. Job titles
and position are examples of esteem needs. For example, Mawar Kasturi Enterprise has
implemented a performance-linked award system that also acts as the foundation for career
advancement.

SELF-ACTUALIZATION NEEDS

This is the needs for self-fulfilment and the opportunity to achieve one’s potential.Self-
actualized people accept themselves and reach their full potential. Managers who emphasize
self-actualization may involve employees in designing jobs or make special assignments that
capitalize on employees unique skills. We have established a talent-spotting project at Mawar
Kasturi Enterprise, in which those with leadership potential are placed on well-defined career
tracks and given the opportunity to advance to senior positions within the company.

11
LEADING

When we talk about leadership, there must be a leader, and Miss Nurul Najeha is the leader in
this company. A leader is someone who can influence the behaviour of others without using
force and who is regarded as a leader by others. Leading entails motivating and directing
members of an organization so that they can contribute to the achievement of the
organization's goals. Leadership is the process of directing the behaviour of others toward the
achievement of a goal or causing individuals to act in a specific manner or follow a specific
course. Leadership is important for this company because it can contribute to the organization,
improve and obtain cooperation, encourage teamwork, and motivate employees to produce
good work.

LEADERSHIP APPROACHES

The Path-Goal Theory is used in Mawar Kasturi Enterprise. The Path-Goal Theory
emphasizes the leader's role in clarifying to subordinates how they can achieve high
performance and its associated rewards. This type Developed by Martin G. Evans and Robert
J.House. They believe that an individual’s motivation depends on his expectation of rewards
and the attractiveness of the rewards. Miss Najeha believes that this is the most effective
leadership style in motivating followers depending on the types of rewards they most desire.

PRIMARY TYPES OF BEHAVIOR

Firstly, there is directive behaviour, which is leader behaviour aims at telling followers what
to do and how to do it.Leaders indicate what performance goals exist and exactly what needs
to be done to reach them. For example, Miss Najeha demonstrates directly to the company's
staff how to perform a task such as promoting and marketing strategy. Because of this, the
workers can cooperate effectively and the goals can be achieved.

Through supportive behaviour, the leaders aims at being friendly with followers and showing
interest in them as human beings. Miss Najeha was pleasant to their employees. She did this
because she wanted her employees to feel happy when working with her.

Lastly, achievement behaviour is a leader's behaviour that aims to set challenging goals for
followers to reach and to express and demonstrate confidence that followers will meet the
challenge.Bonus and rewards will be given to the top-performing staff. As a result, the staff
will work harder and provide the best performance for the company.

12
CONTROLLING

In management, Controlling is one of the most important functions in an organization

because it will help ensure that all the three functions implemented earlier (planning, organizing
and leading) will run smoothly as intended by the top manager. Controlling also needs to be
conducted carefully and nicely in the business organizations according to what the company has
planned in order to achieve the vision, mission and goals of the company.

Feed-forward control is a method of preventing issues before they occur. In other words,
it had been a year since Mawar Kasturi Enterprise had been in business. Once we saw other
companies popping up with lower-cost deals in their websites, we knew we were in
competition. The Hijabs, one of our competitor, too offered a fantastic selection of products.
Customers and purchasers will be drawn to a wider variety of products and services if Mawar
Kasturi implements this new strategy to keep traffic flowing.

Next, Concurrent control is a control that occurs while the task is still going on. It's
clear that sales haven't increased since Mawar Kasturi Enterprise introduced additional
products without first assessing the quality of those brands, but the company is sticking to its
original strategy in the hopes that things will improve in the future.

Lastly,Feedback control after an activity or process is completed. It is

reactive. Feedback control is a system of control that helps managers to control and monitor
the performance of a team. If not, adjustments can be made to the process or to the
standard .When a sales goal is set, the sales team works to reach that goal for three months,
when end of the three-month period, managers review the results and determine whether the
sales goal was achieved.

13
CONCLUSION

In a conclusion, I hope that Mawar Kasturi Enterprise business will be successful and able to
compete with others. This is because our location of the business premises are in a strategic
area that is easily seen by the public and is close to a residential area. Our efficient and
experienced workers can also satisfy customers by providing a best service and reliably while
maintaining the quality required by the business. I also really appreciate the contribution of
ICT technology in this era that can facilitate the business of Mawar Kasturi Enterprise to
grow faster. By using Shoppe, Lazada and Instagram applications, it is very easy for us to
promote goods without using high costs. In addition, ICT technology can also facilitate the
management of my business data. The data stored by the company will be more secure.

The Mawar Kasturi business also carries out social responsibility towards the community
and employees. With this, we will contribute to the community such as donating clothes, food
and money to orphans every month. Our plan is to collab with Siti Nurhaliza to do a sales
promotion through online platform. This product of collaboration sales will grow faster and
increase into 30% of net profit. Other than that, our dream for Mawar Kasturi Enterprise
business will open 5 branches in the State of Johor in the next 3 years with the hope that this
business will always be well known in Malaysia and continue to thrive.
