MATERIALS 821-150 Lion Brand Superwash Merino Cashmere Yarn: Slate 1 Ball (A) 821-133 Lion Brand Superwash Merino Cashmere Yarn: Saffron 1 Ball (B) 821-189 Lion Brand Superwash Merino Cashmere Yarn: Wine 1 Ball (C) Lion Brand Double -Pointed Needles - Size 8 Lion Brand Split Ring Stitch Markers Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6) Additional Materials Circular knitting needle size 8 (5 mm), 16 in. (40.5 cm) GAUGE:

19 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:

PATTERN STITCH K2, p2, Rib worked in the rnd (multiple of 4 sts) Rnd 1: *K2, p2; rep from * around. Rep Rnd 1 for K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd. STRIPE SEQUENCE *With A work 4 rnds, with B work 2 rnds, with A work 1 rnd, with C work 4 rnds, with A work 1 rnd, with B work 4 rnds, with C work 2 rnds; rep from * for Stripe Sequence.

NOTES:

When working Stripe Sequence, carry colors not in use across wrong side of work.

HAT With circular needle and A, cast on 92 sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Work in K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd and Stripe Sequence, until piece measures about 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) from beg. Note: Continue following Stripe Sequence throughout. Next (Decrease) Rnd: (K29, k2tog) twice, k to end of rnd - 90 sts rem at the end of this rnd. Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures about 8 1/2 in. (21.5 cm) from beg. Shape Crown Note: Change to double pointed needles when sts have been sufficiently decreased. Next (Decrease) Rnd: *K8, place marker, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 81 sts. Next Rnd: Knit. Next (Decrease) Rnd: *K to marker, slip marker, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 72 sts. Next Rnd: Knit. Rep last 2 rnds 6 more times - 18 sts rem after all decreases have been completed. Remove markers while working next row. Next (Decrease) Rnd: *K2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 9 sts. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull to gather. Knot securely.

FINISHING Weave in ends.
