DAILY LESSON LOG Dates April 4, 2023/ 2:00-3:00, Quarter 3
and Time 3:00-4:00
I. OBJECTIVES
Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of
parallelograms and triangle similarity.

Performance Standards The learner is able to investigate, analyze, and solve problems
involving parallelograms and triangle similarity through appropriate and
accurate representation.

Learning Competencies The learner proves the conditions for similarity of triangles (Others
involving Perimeters and Areas Ratio). (M9GE-IIIg-h-1)

Specific Objectives a. Express relationships between perimeters and between areas of

similar triangles.
b. Prove the conditions for similarity of triangles involving area and
perimeter ratios..

Our Topic for today is all about Relationships between Perimeters and
between Areas of Similar Triangles

(PRESENTATION OF OBJECTIVES).

C. Presenting The isosceles triangles below are similar.

What is the similarity ratio of triangle EFG to triangle HIJ?

D. Discussing new GROUP ACTIVITY

concepts and
practicing new skills (Now let’s have a Group Activity. Group yourselves into 3 Groups.
#1 Select a Group Leader, Secretary, and Reporter. After you finish your
work paste it on the board.)

Illustrative 1
If two triangles are similar, their perimeters have the same ratio as that
of the measures of any two corresponding sides.

Given: ∆ ABC ~ ∆ XYZ. P and P’ are their respective perimeters.

P AB
Prove: =
P' XY

Illustrative Example 2
If two triangles are similar, then the ratio of their areas is the square of
the ratio of any two corresponding sides.

Problem: The areas of two similar triangles are 144cm and 81cm. If the
base of the larger triangle is 30cm, find the corresponding side of the
smaller triangle.

(Note: the teacher will facilitate the group work. After the activity, the
teacher will check the activity of each group and it will give a score
base on the given rubrics.)

E. Discussing new Questions:

concepts and 1. How did you find the activity?
practicing new skills 2. What happen if the two triangles are similar?
#2
F. Developing mastery Directions: Solve the following problems by applying the relationships
(Leads to between perimeters and between areas of similar triangles.
Formative
Assessment 3)
1. ALD ~ DUB. If AD = 1.8, DB = 1.2, and the perimeter of
DUB is 3.4. Find the perimeter of ALD.
2. If the areas of two similar triangles are 124 cm 2 and 225 cm2, find
the ratio of their corresponding sides.

G. Making generalizations 1. How do you express the relationship between the perimeters of
and abstractions about similar triangle? How about the areas?
the lesson
2. How do you prove the conditions of similar triangles?
H. Finding practical
applications of
concepts and skills in
daily living

The image above is the front view of the Trece Martires City Hall
Building. Using this figure, answer the following.
1. The perimeter of two similar triangles are 60m and 82m. If the area of
triangle ADE is 162 sq. m, what is the area of triangle ABC?
2. The height of triangle ADE is 9 feet. The height of triangle ABC is 15
feet. What is the ratio of the perimeter of triangle ADE to the perimeter
of triangle ABC.

I. Evaluating learning Directions: Solve the following problems.

1. The corresponding sides of two similar triangles are 3 cm and 5

cm. If the perimeter of the smaller triangle is 18 cm, what is the
perimeter of the other triangle?
2. If the areas of two similar triangles are 125 cm 2 and 169 cm2, find
the ratio of their corresponding sides.
A pair of similar triangles have corresponding sides of lengths 25 cm
and 32 cm. If the area of the first triangle is 125 cm 2, what is the
area of the second triangle?

J. Additional activities for 1. Follow-up

application or
remediation Solve this problem: Two similar triangles have perimeters of 60
cm and 82 cm. If the area of the first triangle is 162 cm 2, what is
the area of the second triangle?
Study the different applications of theorems to show that triangles
are similar.

D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did
this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or
supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
used/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
