TITLE
The aim of this project was to determine which of the five sizes of tiles would be
most cost- effective in tiling our classroom floor.
3
INTRODUCTION
Due to limited finances, the group decided to determine which of the five styles of
porcelain tiling on the classroom floor. The classroom area was 79,200inches², so
the group decided to use the bigger size. 20in x 20in, 24in x 24in, 36in x 36in. the
group obtained the prices from three different hardware store selecting the lowest
prices.

Method of Data Collection
Our classroom floor was rectangular in shape, so we measured the length and width using a

The prices of materials used, which included tiles and thinset, were obtained from three different
hardware stores.
The cost of labor for the instalments for each tile size were acquired from three different
carpenters.
The cheapest hardware and carpenter was then nominated for our project.

Analysis of Data
11
We were able to determine the cost to tile our entire classroom using porcelain tiles. We
converted the feet into inches because the sizes of the tiles were measured in inches.
From table four, the largest tile which was 36in×36in, total cost was the cheapest, and less tiles
were needed, the 12in×12in tiles were the smallest, even though it was the most expensive, less
The bigger tiles were least expensive and less tiles were used. For the 36in×36in tile, only 62
were used.
The cost of thinset for 12in×12in tiles were cheaper because the tiles were smaller and needed

Conclusion
13
This project shows the cost of five different sizes of porcelain tiles to tile our fairly large
classroom. By having a small budget, we were able to determine the cost to tile our entire
classroom using porcelain tiles, at the we used the smallest tile which was the 20in x 20in.
