 ‘A country’s national language is a national treasure that should be

preserved and passed on from generation to generation. The

Philippines is an archipelago of languages and one of the diverse

countries in the world. Philippines is a multilingual country,

attributing the diversity of its language to cultures of its people.

 Republic Act 1987, Article XIV Section 6,” The national language of

the Philippines is Filipino. As it evolves, it shall be further developed

and enriched on the basis of existing Philippine and other

languages.”

 Citing the 1990 census, the estimated number of Yogad speakers is

16,000 (Simons et al., 2017). Presently, the language is classified

as an EGIDS Level 6b (Threatened or endangered), as it is not

being actively passed on to children (Eberhard et al., 2021).

 Grande (2008) adds that because of migration of a majority

language group in the region, the Yogad speakers are being

outnumbered by a ratio of 2:1 is equivalent to 200% unlike Ilokano,

they have over million language users and considered as the most
visible ethnic group in Isabela (Philippine Statistics Authority,

2002).

 Due to the out-growing languages in the country, it reaches its point

that some of our languages are already extinct and some are

threatened. Yogad as one of the threatened languages (The Katig

Collective, 2022). Hence, Yogad is not far different from the other

language. One of the reasons why we are facing this is because of

the speakers of language itself, the vernacular is no longer being

passed to the next generation, signaling the potential risk of

extinction. (Commoner, 2021).

Statement of the Problem

 This study aims to investigate The Transmission of Yogad

Language in the Household in barangay Dammang West.

Conceptual Framework

This shows the process of language transmission within the household.

 The paradigm presented in this study shows the reason behind the

choice of language of the older generation, the transmission of that

language and how they transmit that language to the younger

generation. On the other hand, the younger generation could also

affect the reason behind the choice of language.

Significance of the Study

 Parents. This study will help them realize the importance of their

roles in the cultural development of their children as this may also

affect their child academic advancement.

 LGU. This will help the local government unit to determine the

perception of every resident towards to the effect of language

transmission to the younger generation.

 Community. This study also benefits the community as this

enables the learners and the households to distribute their cultural

knowledge towards the people in the community.

 Researchers. This study will help them to also widen and

understand their knowledge on how to enrich and sustain their

knowledge and connection on their culture by not just applying it on

their daily living but in every aspect of their lives.

Research Design

 This study will use a descriptive survey.

SCRIPT: According to Kothari and Garg (2019), descriptive- survey

method of research is designed for describing the characteristics of a particular

individual or a group of individuals.

 The main objective of the study is to describe the nature of a

situation as it exists at the time of the study and to explore the

causes of particular phenomena.

 The analysis of this type of data aimed to provide an explanation on

current issue or problems through the process of data collection

that enables them to describe the situation more completely.

 It is suitable for situations where researchers believe that the

information does not exist in order to solve problems. Therefore,

they have to examine the circumstances, collect the data, analyze

and interpret the data and reach a satisfactory solution.

Study Site and Participants

 The study will be conducted at the household in Barangay

Dammang West, Echuage, Isabela. The participants of the study

are the 30 household of Dammang West Echuage, Isabela.

Data Gathering Instruments Used

To ensure accurate data gathering, the instrument used is stated below:

 Questionnaire- It refers to the consistency of measures and

replicable they are, that is the degree to which an instrument

measure the same way each time it is used under the same

conditions with the same subjects (Holye. Harris & Judd 2002).

 Interviewing- it involves an interviewer, who coordinates the

process of the conversation and asks questions and an

interviewee, who responds to those questions. Interviews can be

conducted face-to-face or over the telephone (M. Easwaramoorthly

& Fataneh Zarinpoush, Imagine Canada 2006).

Data Gathering Procedures

The researcher will follow this procedure to gather information and get the

goal of the study:

 The researcher will construct questionnaire to gather answer from

the respondents. Before floating the survey questionnaire, the

researchers will ask permission to the National Commission on

Indigenous People (NCIP) for conducting the survey to the

Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP) and its

community. The researchers will also conduct a pre-conference and

conference with the Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices

(IKSP) Also, the resesrchers will ask permission to the Barangay

Captains of Barangay Dammang West to conduct the survey.

 The researchers will then interview 30 households regarding the

study, giving questionnaire and conducting interview to gather

information. When the questionnaire and interview is accomplished,

the researchers will retrieve the data from the respondents then the

data gathered is tallied, tabulated, computed, analyzed and

interpreted.
