Using multimedia tools (if available), present the water cycle and emphasize the changes of state of water that occur
during the process.
Ask the learners to discuss in their groups the following guide questions: a. What are the different states of
water? b. What are the changes of state that occur in water during the water cycle? c. How can we explain the
changes of state in water using the concept of the particle nature of matter?

In this lesson, the learners were able to understand the particle nature of matter as a basis for explaining properties,
physical changes, and structure of substances and mixtures. They were able to explain the properties of solids, liquids,
and gases based on the particle nature of matter, and present how water behaves in its different states within the water
cycle. The learners also analyzed, abstracted, and applied their understanding of the particle nature of matter in various
contexts. The evaluation was in the form of multiple-choice questions, and the assignment was focused on research,
observation, and investigation. Overall, the learners were able to appreciate the role of scientific inquiry in
understanding natural phenomena.
