Error Code 26 – Invalid Calibration Factor
Further Information
When entering calibration mode, only straight grades may be calibrated. All straight grades
that the unit is programmed for via CC 90 (unit type) must have a calibration factor entered
before this error will clear. To check blend ratios, press ENTER on the manager keypad when
the unit is in an idle state or through viewing the CC 72 (blend ratios).
If an improper calibration factor has been set (usually when calibrating with an incorrect
CC 82 value) the calibration can be cleared by changing the volume unit type in CC 71.
Warmstart the unit, and then set CC 71 back to the proper value.
If you are unable to enter the calibration mode, check the following:
• CC 90 – Verify that the unit is configured for the proper grades/products.
• CC 72 – Verify that all straight grades are calibrated. If you have a non-standard blend, for
example, 100/50/5, the last grade will have to be changed to a 0 in order to
perform the calibration procedure.

Error Code 5047 – Reverse Flow Detected
Non-blending units display this error on the PPU display for the pulser on which the reverse
flow was detected. Blending units display this error on the PPU display for any product using
the pulser on which the reverse flow is detected.
The quadrature and higher pulsers detect the correct rotational direction by monitoring the first
20 pulses every time the dispenser is power cycled. In case the pulser replaces an existing
pulser and it turns (or is turned) in the wrong direction for the first 20 pulses or more after
power cycling the unit, it will establish the rotational direction as being correct. The
subsequent delivery will result in an EC 5047. To avoid this, do not assemble or rotate a “live”
pulser in the wrong direction just after replacement or power cycle. If the pulser is
inadvertently rotated incorrectly, you can correct the condition by powering the unit down and
taking a backup, and ensuring that the pulser turns in the proper direction for the first 20
pulses.
Possible Causes – All Encore Pulser Types except Ultra-Hi and Coriolis
(DEF) Meter
Note: The causes listed are ordered from most to least likely.
• The dispenser is not programmed for encrypted pulsers (if equipped or installed).
• Leaking meter check valve
• Air in the product line or line hydraulics is causing pulser jitter
• Improper, corroded, or damaged wiring/connection
• Damaged PCN
Note: Ultra-Hi units with the liquid controls meter do not have a meter check valve. Any
reverse pulses detected are likely to be caused due to fluctuations in line pressure.

Error Code 5049 – Unauthorized Flow Detected
Notes: 1) This error is applicable to all unit types with Sandpiper electronics of any
generation.
2) This error may display on the PPU displays or be logged only, depending upon the
configuration of CC 91 FC 31.
Further Information
When troubleshooting this issue, ensure that the Submersible Turbine Pump (STP) for the
product being investigated is running during the process. While starting up a unit or site,
ensure that the product line has been properly purged. To test this issue without the unit being
authorized, it may be necessary to authorize the opposite side or another unit. The STP should
remain ON during the troubleshooting process. Verify first if the product being investigated
will flow without authorization.
Troubleshooting
If the flow continues with the unit powered down, repair/replace the affected valve.
If the flow stops when the unit is powered down, proceed as follows:
1 Unplug the cable connection from P1102 (valve control) from the valve interface PCA.
3 If the flow stops, inspect the valve control cable for damage. If no damage is present, proceed
to step 4.
Non-blending units display this error on the PPU display for the pulser on which the erratic
pulse pattern was detected. Blending units display this error on the PPU display for any
product using the pulser on which the erratic pulse pattern was detected.
• Damaged/malfunctioning pulser
Note: Ecometer pulsers are not independently serviceable. Moving the pulser requires
moving the entire Ecometer assembly.
• Improper, corroded, or damaged wiring/connection
• Air in the unit or line hydraulics causing pulser jitter.
• Incorrect calibration factor. For example, CC 82 (calibration measure capacity)

Replacing PCN
4 Update the software on the existing PCN of the dispenser to the version that is printed on the
label of the new PCN that you are installing.
5 After the PCN software upgrade has completed, remove the AC unit power. To initialize the
new PCN, replace the PCN and reconnect all the cables removed, except the Door Node LON
cables.
8 Wait for the Heartbeat LED (D14) on the PCN to blink for 60 seconds.
Note: The blinking Heartbeat LED indicates that the PCN software has finished booting. If
the Heartbeat LED blinks, stops blinking, and then starts blinking again, that is an
indication that the PCN did not boot up correctly.
9 Remove the AC power to the dispenser. This concludes the new PCN initialization.
16 If necessary, notify your local W&M office that you broke the seal on the security switch to
repair.
