NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF THE SCHOOL-BASED

MATHEMATICS FESTIVAL
Theme: “Mathematics for Everyone”
March 14, 2023
I- Introduction
Mathematics plays a vital role in all aspects of life. Everyone uses

mathematics in our day to day lives, and most of the time, we do not even
realize it. Without math, the world would be pure chaos. Math is being able to
apply it to everyday real-world situations.
March 14th is observed worldwide as the International Day of Mathematics,
which was proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to recognize the significance of Mathematics
in our daily lives and to raise awareness about its importance globally.
In observance of the said International Day of Mathematics, Badong
National High School conducted a School-Based Mathematics Festival with the
theme “Mathematics for Everyone” which highlights the idea that mathematics
is not limited to mathematicians but is essential for everyone. The activities
include Mathematics Jingle, Mathematics Cartooning, Damath, Sudoku, Math
Quiz Bowl, Rubik’s Cube and Chess.
With this activity, students will understand more the basic mathematical
concepts and computational skills and their interests in mathematics will be
developed. Students will also appreciate the world of mathematics especially for
its application in a real-life situation.
II- Objectives
At the end of the activities, the participants will be able to:
a. understand the basic mathematical concepts and computational skills;
b. stimulate interest in the learning of mathematics; and,
c. appreciate the importance of the activity as stated in the theme.

III- RESULTS/OUTCOMES
In cooperation with the Mathematics Club and SSG officers, the conduct
of School-Based Mathematics Festival was thoroughly planned step by step.
Officers have the vision to make the program enjoyable and meaningful to all
the participants.
The program was started in the morning at exactly 8:45 with an opening
prayer and nationalistic song presented via multimedia. It was opened by the
Grade 9 Mathematics teacher, Ms. Unime F. Plaza with her Opening Remarks
followed by the presentation of participants given by Mrs. Cristina E. Tibayan.
Then, Ms. Josephine G. Plaza, Mathematics Coordinator presented the
Rationale of the activity and then followed by the Reading of Mechanics and
Guidelines by Mr. Jemboy C. Cabalhin, the Mathematics Club President and
then, Ms. Irish Cuajao, the Vice President of the Mathematics Club introduced
the judges and read the criteria for the Math Cartooning and Math Jingle. The
Part I of the program ended with an inspiring message given by the very active
School Head, Mr. Arjun D. Cerro
Part II of the program, the contest proper started at 9:15 a.m. The events
were conducted simultaneously with the following facilitators.

IV- RECOMMENDATION
Through the participation of the students and teachers, it makes the
activity more successful. So, it is recommended that:
1. all officers must help in the preparation of the activity;

2. advisers must help in monitoring their students on the progress of the

practice, etc. for the contest;
3. co-teachers must not hesitate to help the coordinator for the
preparation of the event;
4. the preparation for the contest must be ahead of time not on time.
