Week 5
1. Identify the objects or creatures in the story which bore the marks of the Manobo
community.
Tuwaang, after finishing some work, calls his aunt aside and informs her that

takes his shield and spear. He rides on a flash of lightning, and arrives at the
Kawkawangan grassland. While resting there a while, he hears a gungutan
bird crowing. He decides to catch the fowl, but soon sees the gungutan with a
dagger like spur. The gungutan tells Tuwaang he came to know of his
coming in a dream and that he wants to go with him to the wedding
celebration. Tuwaang agrees to bring the gungutan along. The two shake
their shoulders and are carried who space.
2. Describe Tuwaang. Identify the stereotyped character traits of an epic hero that he

3. Gives the beliefs and practices in the story which are uniquely Manobo.
The religious beliefs of the Manobo are revolved around the accept that there
are many unseen spirits who interfere in the lives of humans. They believes
that these spirits can intrude on humans activities to accomplish their desires.
The spirits are also believed to have human characteristics. They are both
good and evil in nature and can be evoked to both anger and pleasure. While
the religious practices of the manobo vary slightly, there seems to be at least
one common thread linking them together. Each culture believes in one
“great spirit”. This “great spirit” is usually viewed as the creator figure.

-The Giantess and the Three Children
1. The three orphans were thin and really hungry that lives a small house. Who hunt
animals for you. They are smart enough to get fire from berat and the children had a
garden and because they have no rice fields and no one to hunt for them they
decided that each night they would lay sharp shells and sticks across their garden
other they could cath an occasional wild boar for food. Even though they caught
a wild animal w their front yard it would always be eaten by the vultures and
other animals because they don’t have tire on which to roast the meat. Oh the
giantess bekat, had a tire.
2. Bekat was represent as a giant woman in the minds of the ancient people who dwelt
in a cove in the Mountain Province. Isneg folktale relates that she had a keen sense
of smell for meat, her favorite food she knew if a hunter was carrying neat nearby.
It is said she tricked hunters in order to steal the meat of their kill she loved to
cook meat along with rice in large pots in her cave.
3. The Filipino values are shown the story have a strong faith. Even in the midst of the
most trying moments of their collective history their faith remains steadfast. They
kept on figuring to the most trying moments in their lives even though there’s lot of
challenges they have face up but they remain strong faith to surpass. No matter how
hard and how big your enemy is they never give up and they keep on fighting they
never lose hope they continue to pray that the one Filipino values that enlightened us
for being a Filipino so therefore at the end Beka did not hurt them.
4. The compare character traits depicted in the election with those commonly
observed among children are they are wise, because Bekat thought that she can
overpower the children, but the children were wise enough to think of clever way to
deceived. Bekat in order for them to bring back their owned meat while the contrast is
that of being helpful, because they were almost got caught by Bekat.
5. I will teach English in elementary grades through literature effectively by falling in
love with what you teach each day, and he thing that enthusiasm shine through so
your students can see it. Read the actual literary texts attentively and establish
a relationship with them. Then read the criticism. Form your own opinions but he
open to new perspectives, love the works you’re teaching and communicate that love
to the students by showing them how and why the work is effective. If you’re not
excited about what you’re teaching, you will fail because literacy 19 a gift teacher
