The South African national government has established a new department called the department
of cybercrime watchdog. The department will be based in Pretoria. The department will install
computer network system. The department will use two service provider to connect to the internet.
Connectivity:
The building has four floors (floor 1, 2, 3 and 4), floor one will accommodate 150 users (hosts),
floor two 105 users (hosts), floor three 87 users (hosts), and floor four 38 users (hosts). Each
floor will have two layer 3 switches for the end users (access switches). All switches will be
connected to the core switch .Two switches will be used to connect all the servers (server farm) to
the two routers, which means the two switches will connects the servers then be connected to the
routers, (servers such as intranet server (Portal), File server, DHCP server, DNS, domain
controller, persal system, BAS, Microsoft (MS) active directory 2016 +, and Ms exchange 2012.
The server has 30 hosts.
1. Use Microsoft or any software to draw the network, show the connectivity between routers and
the two ISP. Label all the devices (all internetworking devices and servers) including cabling. The
diagram must also address redundancy and the security. (15)
2. Explain the functions of all the internetworking devices and cabling that you have used in
question 1. (5)
3. Calculate all the costs of the overall network infustructure or equipment in use, provide the costs
evidence of all the infustructure (such as legitimate invoices). (10)
Use VLSM to design the IP addressing scheme for the department (per floor and server farm).
Show all the calculation in a clean spread sheet. (20)
