I would like to acknowledge everyone who played a role in my practicum 1. First and
foremost to our Almighty GOD who make a way and guidance to successfully finish my
practicum 1. Second to my family who serve as an inspiration, encouragement and who
supported me morally and financially to finish my practicum 1.
Lastly for my friends, classmates & batchmate who serve as instrument and guidance to
finish and making this practicum 1 more memorable, to our training committee in physical agility
test retired Police Major Erico Timbang, retired Master Sergeant Dorwyn Piamonte, Jail Officer

LEGAL BASIS OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Section 10. CHED MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 21, SERIES OF 2005- Criminal Justice
Policies and Standards for the Criminology Program.
Whereas, Section 8 of the same CMO provides the On-the-Job Training and Community
Immersion requirements, which state that:
Students undergoing Practicum shall submit a research report, which shall be a Case Study or
a Case Analysis. The report will integrate the theories into the
Practicum experiences in the place where the students have been assigned. It should reflect the
student’s involvement in the enforcement of the law. The research report shall be submitted to
the faculty committee after the semester, and approved by the head of the Criminology
Department, as a requirement of the course.
There shall be a link-up between the school and accredited police or security training centers,
DILG, NBI, NAPOLCOM, PNP, Crime Laboratory, Corrections and Rehabilitation Training
Center, Fire Stations, Probation and Parole Administration,
Banks, Bureau of Immigration, or any public institution or private commercial
establishment where the Practicum and Community Immersion of the students shall be
conducted.
The instructor and the coordinator assigned to supervise the Practicum and Community
Immersion shall maintain an accurate record of activities of students
undergoing the said program. The school shall ensure ample protection to life and limb of
students through insurance that will be taken on the student’s account and other appropriate
safety nets”.
Section 11. CHED MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 37, SERIES OF 2010- Guidelines in the
Conduct of Practicum (On-the-Job-Training and Community Immersion)
Requirement for BS Criminology students
Whereas Paragraph I of this order states that, “The Practicum (OJT and
Community Immersion) requirement for BS Criminology students is a component of the new
curriculum for the Criminology program as contained under CMO No. 21, s. 2005.
The ‘pre-immersion phase’ refers to the preparatory stage of the Practicum. This
pertains to the activities conducted by the Higher Education Institution (HEI) prior to the
immersion phase. The students enrolled in this course shall be called ‘Criminology Interns’”.
As mandated under Section 8, Article 5 of CMO 21, SERIES of 2005 and further
strengthened by the provisions of CMO 37, series of 2010, HEIs offering the BS Criminology
program must have proper linkages with institutions where the students shall undertake their
Practicum. The HEI and the institution concerned shall enter into a Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA), wherein the Parties’ individual participation and responsibilities shall be specified. The
HEI shall maintain a valid MOA with the partner institution to ensure that every Criminology
Intern shall be able to complete the Practicum.
A. Prepare a booklet or a similar material defining the specific details and procedures as to how
the Practicum shall be conducted, as well as the necessary details germane to the undertaking;
B. Prepare the program of activities specifying the tasks and duties to the performed by the
Criminology Interns during the conduct of the OJT and the Community Immersion;
C. Prepare an observation and monitoring instrument, which shall be designed to reveal the
insights, reflections, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values acquired by the Interns;
D. Assign an instructor who shall be the overall in-charge and coordinator to supervise the
conduct of the OJT and the Community Immersion;
E. Conduct a complete and thorough orientation of Criminology Interns prior to the immersion
proper, which shall include provision of information related to those below.
Section 12. CHED MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 02, SERIES OF 2011- Revised Guidelines
in the Formulation of CHED Policies, Standards and Guidelines of Academic Programs,
Amending CHED Special Order No. 42 series of 2003, otherwise known as “Guidelines for
the Formulation of Policies and Standards of Academic Programs”.
Whereas, Section III-1-e. requires “learning resources and support structures needed to
attain learning competencies through library, laboratory, facilities, ICT, Practicum/Internship
sites.
Section 13. CHED MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 46, SERIES OF 2012- Policy-Standard to
Enhance Quality Assurance (QA) in Philippine Higher Education through an Outcomes-
Based and Typology-Based Quality Assurance.
Section 5, Paragraph 1- Research findings suggesting that the lack of a critical pool of
graduates with the necessary thinking, technical, and behavioral competencies are among the
factors constraining the re-launching of the Philippine manufacturing sector, and the
achievement of the full potentials of the service sector; and
Section 8- Any Internal Quality Assurance system begins with the HEI’s identity and enters
a quality cycle of planning, implementation, review, and enhancement.
The Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle or the Deming Cycle is applied to the HEI’s capacity to
achieve the following objectives:
1.) to translate the vision, mission, and goals (VMG) into desired learning outcomes;
2.) to establish the proper learning environment (implementation of teaching learning
systems as well as support processes and procedures;
3.) to review against performance indicators and standards defined in the assessment
system; and
4.) to enhance programs and systems.
The cycle continues thereafter as the HEI develops into a mature institution. Section 14-
CHED is committed to developing and implementing an outcome-based approach to quality
assurance monitoring and evaluation, because it has the potential to greatly increase both the
effectiveness of the QA system, and the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of higher
education. Mature evaluation systems are based upon outcomes, looking particularly into the
intended, implemented, and achieved learningoutcomes.
The students Orientation and consulatation on the OJT program was conducted on
September 5, 2022 via google meet. On the other hand the parents consultative meeting was
conducted face to face administered on October 12, 2022 at the Audio-Visual Room at Davao
Oriental State University.
II. NARRATIVE
On September 5, 2022 the program started with a prayer that was conducted by Mr. Jhonlord
Polonio, followed by a National anthem, Provincial and DOSCST hymn through audio and visual
presentation. The moderator of the program was Ms. Loriefel Grande and Ms. Grace Llanto.
Welcome remarks was given by our program head Dr. Nonilito O. Carpio then followed by
acknowledging the Criminology Intern Guild Officers. The attendance was strictly checked and
recorded for the whole duration of the program.
Ms. Noreen Javier one of the Criminology Intern Guild Coordinators discusses the overview
of the on the job training under new the curriculum and flow of activities for 2022-2023. She
discusses the basis of this on the job training which was the CHED memorandum No. 37 series
of 2010 which was the guidelines in the conduct of (On-the-Job Training and Community
Immersion) Requirements for BS Criminology students. Next to it is the interns grading system
and financial matters in terms of uniforms which was discussed by Mr. Ruther Manaopanao one
of the interns coordinator. He also discusses the requirements for us to under go in order be
part of the OJT1 such as psychological test, drug test, pregnancy test for women and medical
certificate.
The Parents Consultative Meeting was held separately from the students' orientation. It took
place face to face on October 12, 2022. Dr. Nonilito O. Carpio, the director of our program,
made the introductory remarks. Ms. Noreen M. Javier, our 4th year Academic Adviser, analyzed
and presented the overview of the On-the-Job training course as various phases of OJT activity
take place. Mr. Ruther P. Manaopanao then gave an informative and instructive presentation on
the parent's roles and obligations to aid in the financial matters related the Interns' On-the-Job
training course. Finally, our IBPA Dean, Dr. Jeralyn H. Sacro, made a concluding statement.
III. REFLECTION
Meetings and gatherings is very important in every organization since everyone’s opinion
was or will be the basis on every decisions the group should or will make. At first I thought that
parent’s consultative meeting wasn’t that necessary anymore since the organization conducted
students orientation already and it is the responsibilty of the students to inform their parents
about the financial matters and more. However in parents consulative meeting there are some
parents complained that their students ask an amount more than the said amount for their
uniforms.
Narrative on Interns/OJT Webinar Series
II. NARRATIVE
The first seminar of the Criminology Intern Seminar Series, titled "Workplace Ethics,"
was held face to face at the DOrSU audio visual room on the 19 th of October. The program
began with an invocation, which was followed by the singing of the Philippine national anthem,
the Davao Oriental hymn, and the DOrSU hymn. Mr. Ruther P. Manaopanao, our CIG-
Coordinator, presided over the event as it was formally opened.
The Intern's 3 day Webinar Series on October 25, 26 and 27, 2022. This 3-day webinar
shall cover topics relevant to the application of six areas of Criminology including matters
relating to the Criminology profession act, the vital role of research in the Criminology
profession, other matters relating to research including the finding of sources and citing
references, methodology, ethical considerations, and case study.
The webinar series was hosted by Ms. Xera Ciel Aguilar criminology instructor. First
episode of the webinar series Ms. Noreen Javier CIG-Coordinator gives her opening remarks.
Then after Mr. Ruther P. Manaopanao introduces the first guest speaker Atty. Edward Maglugot
he discusses the “Salient features of R.A 11131”. As an overview to the discussion RA 11131
oversees criminologists' examination, registration, and licensure; supervision, control, and
regulation of criminology practice; standardization and regulation of criminology education;
development of criminologists' professional competence; and integration of all criminology
progressional.
The second episode of the webinar series discusses about “The role of research in
criminology profession”. The speaker for this topic was Dr. Jean B. Pauyon a college research
coordinator of University of Negros Occidental. Then after Dr. Paulino R. Tagaylo a fculty of La
Salle University Ozamiz City discusses the “Research matters such as RRL, finding sources
and citing references”.
The third episode’s topic of this webinar series was “The methods and ethical
cosideration of research” which was discussed by Ms. Nikka A. Singh, MS.C. Then after the
second speaker was introduced Ms. Maria Linel B. Talamera to discuss the “Ethical
Considerations in Research”. Lastly a closing remarks was given by our very own IBPA dean
Dr. Jeralyn H. Sacro, then followed by taking of virtual photos.
III. REFLECTION
This whole program was very informative. I’ve learned from the first seminar that there
are some differences in terms of Career and Personality Development Workplace Ethics and
Police Professional Ethical Standard gladly it was from different point of view by that we were
able to see difference between the two. As to the 3 days webinar series it was helpful since as
of today we’re still conducting our research papers by that we will able to improve our papers.
Narrative on Physical Agility Endurance test
All criminology interns are required to pass medical records in order for us to proceed
into OJT1. Then after passing all the requirements we started the a two weeks physical agility
test followed by rank inspection then the acceptance.
II. NARRATIVE
On the first week of October we were required to pass requirements in order to proceed
into our OJT1. On the 5th of October 2022 first thing I did I go to Cubero Drug Test Center in
Dahican to have my drug test, neuro test and medical certificate. 30 minutes later the result of
my drug test came I tested negative of course. The other day, they emailed my neurological test
result. After that since Cubero Drug Test Center doesn’t have test for pregnancy I need to go to
Mati Specialist Clinic and Diagnostic Center at Brgy. Matiao Mati City to have my test for
pregnancy. It tooks 20 minutes to wait for the result and I tested negative as well.
December 5, 2022 our two weeks physical agility test started. My daily routine started to
wake up 3:00 am to prepare then after proceed to school before 4:00 in the morning. Everyday
we’re having warm up exercises and CIG dozen exercises then after we proceed to combat run,
then practice marching and facing.
December 10, 2022 rank inspection was conducted. We we’re ask to prepare for an
index card for the listing of our demerits. Uniforms, garrison belt, socks, wetlook, white hanky,
nails and haircut for boys and hairnet for girls was checked.
December 16, 2022 acceptance for all interns except for the officers since they had
there acceptance prior to us. This day was the most tiring but the most memorable one. There
were 4 stations and every stations have different sets of exercises. We need to crawl from our
current position to every stations. My buddy for this whole duration was Lona. We also crawled
in the mud and produces bubbles. Then after we had our snacks which was pandesal with 5
chili as “palaman” we also tasted the very delectable juice we’ve ever taste which was the CIG
juice with very special ingredients, vinegar and hundreds of chili.
III. REFLECTION
If we feel like of giving up, If we thought about giving up, when it looks like we ain’t gonna
make it, we need to keep going. This we’re the lessons or the things I’ve learned through up this
entire week of physical agility test. The thought of giving up and the thought of we can get
through this difficulties is just in our mind. “Mind over body” ika nga that’s what sir Timbang
always reminds us. After all the hardships and struggle in doing such difficulties in every
stations it’s overwhelming that all of us surpass all the challenges given and no one left behind.
Narrative of Community Extension and Institutional Involvement
The Davao Oriental State University conducted Do Day’s in order to prepare the school
for face to face classes after 2 years of conducting online classes due to COVID 19 pandemic.
Also the school conducted back to back do day’s in preparation of the upcoming MASTS 2022
to be held in our School. The CIG also had Security assistance to PNP celebration of Police
Anniversary and conducted Community advocacy at NASA Dahican
II. NARRATIVE
September 16, 2022 the school conducted first ever Do Day for A.Y 2022-2023 in
preparation for face to face classes after 2 years of COVID 19 pandemic. We were divided into
groups we were tasked to clean the second floor of the criminology building.
The first day of our OJT 1 October 10, 2022 School Security Assistance in conducting face
to face classes after 2 years of lockdown due to COVID 19 pandemic. We were assigned to
facilitate and assist those students specially 1st year since they’re new to the school and doesn’t
know yet the buildings or classrooms in every department. The CIG Commander Jefrel Bayacag
together with his subordinates assigned us in our respective posts.
The whole duration of our one week duty, I am with my buddy Ms. Zendee Cantiga, we were
assigned in Nursing Building to strictly facilitate social distancing and strictly wearing of face
masks and assist students in terms of directions and more. Somehow we face difficulties in
terms of pointing directions as to where the math laboratory could be located since we
ourselves wasn’t familiar as to where the laboratories are. In terms of social distancing and
wearing of face masks there are some students who strictly follows the rules but most of them
didn’t, they’ll just going to observe social distancing when were looking at them the few minutes
later they’ll get closer with each other again, same with wearing of face mask they’ll just going to
wear when we ask them then the next time around they wore it down.
On the last day of our duty there were changes in every post there was a rotation in every
designated post. I am with Zendee and Kharyl this time we were assigned in engineering
building.
Then after, two Do Day’s were conducted in order to prepare the school for the upcoming
MASTS 2022 dated October 21, 2022 and November 2, 2022. MASTS 2022 started on
November 5, 2022 but our duty started on Monday November 7, 2022. All criminology interns
grouped and assigned in respective post. I was assigned on the graduate school building for 3
consecutive days together with Aiza, Axil, Chareen, Windelene, Erika and Radores. Axil was
assigned as our team leader. 8 am our duty started and will end 5 in the afternoon.
On November 9 2022, there was changes there were rotations in every post. I was assigned
at the DOrSU gymnasium, Jimmy was the team leader. We were deployed at the entry,
checking the bags, IDs, and face masks of all students and delegates entering the gymnasium.
At about 10 in the morning the head of the PNP that were assigned in the gymnasium assigned
me and Zendee to paste signage around the gymnasium.
November 10, 2022 opening of MASTS Sports Competition 2022 A parade from Mati Sports
Complex to DOrSu oval. The CIG joined in welcoming guests and delegates from several
universities from various regions though it rained there’s no way to stop the event. The program
was wonderfully led by the DorSU Marching Band, followed by the parade and shouts of the 28
participating SUCs from six (6) different regions of Mindanao. With the help of our CIG-
Coordinators, Mr. Ruther P. Manaopanao and Ms. Noreen M. Javier. As we blend in with the
crowds, we monitor and regulate the masses, secure the places, and ensure public safety. They
have extended their hands to us throughout the program to guide us. I was assigned to hold the
placards of Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology as they arrived at
the DOrSU campus from Mati Sports Complex. The event was a huge success thanks to the aid
and service of the CIG-BAGSIK LAHI CL 2022-2023 and our ROTC volunteers. As the program
concludes, the competitiveness and the blood flowing with strain and pressure will begin, as this
marks the beginning of the battle of the best.
The next day November 11, 2022 back to original post which was in graduate school quarter
of Western Mindanao State University. The delegates of WMSU were very approachable they
extended greetings and even adjust their language in to bisaya in order to communicate with us.
November 12, 2022 there was a rotation again in our deployment, this time I was assigned in
DOrSU hotel together with Windelene, Angel, and Juanito. November 13, 2022 I was assigned
again in DOrSu gymnasium together with Zendee and Mae.
December 8, 2022 the CIG BAGSIK-LAHI administered the Criminology Intern Guild
Feeding, Libreng Gupit and Gift Giving Activity at NASA Development Center, Dahican, Mati
City. To prepare the children for the fun and cheerful activities, the program began by giving
them healthy and nutritious snacks. CIG- Public Relations Jessa Seban, the Master of
Ceremony, began the program at 9:40 a.m. CIG-Operation Ludy Sadingan warmly welcomes
and greets the parents who allow their children to participate in the event.
III. REFLECTION
The things that taught me during this School Security Assistance as well as in MASTS 2022
is that people are very stubborn when they are prohibited for such things though they’re health
will be at risk if they doesn’t follow the protocols. I may now understand that the bridge were
trying to cross which was being a law enforcement officer is not an easy job, it takes a very long
patience in terms of handling different people everyday because not all people will listen and
obey you.

II. NARRATIVE
The diagnostic examination was done online via schoology platform dated October 22,
2022, Saturday. The first three subjects that we take was LEA, CLJ and Forensics. The other
day October 23, 2022 we take the examination for the last 3 subjects which was CDI, CRIM,
CorAd. The test was open in schoology started 8 pm upto 10 in the evening.
Post Test examination was scheduled on December 21-23 2022. The examination
conducted face to face at DOrSU gymnasium and Criminology Building. Answer sheets were
given, all we need to do is shade the letter of the correct answer. Every subjects itemed 100 test
questions. We were also informed to properly shade the circle of the correct answer so that the
machine could read our answers, erasures are strictly prohibited.
