OVERVIEW OF
COMPUTER
AND NURSES
• Electronic health records (EHRs) supported by computer and information technology are
increasingly replacing paper medical records as industry norms. The use of computer
technology gives nurses and other members of your healthcare team immediate access
to crucial information about your health or condition.
COMPUTERS
• A computer is a device that may be configured to automatically perform series of logical
or mathematical processes. Modern digital electronic computers are capable of running
programs, which are generalized sets of operations. These apps give computers the
ability to carry out a variety of tasks.
5 COMPONENTS
• INPUT UNIT
• OUTPUT UNIT
• MEMORY UNIT
• CONTROL UNIT
• ARITHMETICAL AND LOGIC UNIT
INPUT UNIT
• This is the equipment used to receive information from people. Human input is
transformed into data that computers can understand by input devices.
OUTPUT UNIT
• A piece of equipment/hardware which gives out the result of the entered input once it is
processed.
MEMORY UNIT
• It is used to store data, instructions and information. It is actually a work area of computer,
where the CPU stores the data and instruction.
• The area of a computer's central processor unit that performs arithmetic and logic
operations on the operands of computer instruction words.
(ALU is divided into two the arithmetic and the logic unit)
TERMINOLOGIES
PROGRAM
• A computer is given a task by a program.
HARDWARE
• Hardware is the aggregate term for a computer system's physical components.
SOFTWARE
• Is used to describe a media that contains a set of instructions that tell hardware how to
carry out specific tasks.
DATA
• These facts and figures have been compiled for analysis or reference.
PROCESS
• Each task handled by the computer system is divided into smaller ones called processes.
NURSES
Nursing includes providing independent and team-based care to people of all ages, families,
groups, and communities, whether they are ill or not and regardless of the location. Health
promotion, disease prevention, and the care of the ill, disabled, and dying are all included in
nursing.
TELEMEDICINE SOFTWARE
• A desktop, mobile, or web platform for providing remote medical care.
• The practice of remotely monitoring patients' medical and other health data and
electronically transmitting such data to healthcare professionals for evaluation and, if
necessary, suggestions and instructions is known as remote patient monitoring, also
known as remote physiologic monitoring.
• A hospital's ability to handle information and data about patients, providers, processes,
and more through the use of a hospital management system guarantees that
procedures are carried out efficiently.
• A customer relationship management (CRM) system made exclusively for the healthcare
sector is known as a healthcare CRM.
MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS SOFTWARE
E-PRESCRIPTIONS SOFTWARE
• Medical billing refers to the procedures used by professionals, such as physicians and
nurses, to draft and submit insurance claims in order to be reimbursed for all rendered
services.
CLINICAL TRIAL MANAGEMENT
• A software system called a clinical trial management system (CTMS) is used to handle
clinical trials in clinical research.
• Medical personnel can track, archive, organize, and manipulate patient images with the
use of medical imaging software.
• An individual's health and medical history will be fully summarized in their Personal
Health Record based on data from a variety of sources, including information contributed
by the use
MEDICAL RESEARCH SOFTWARE
• When there are no internally referenceable clinical cases with which to compare
patients, this kind of software is frequently used to train medical staff and to support
diagnosis.
