1. Reflect on the concepts of linear and non-linear systems. What concepts (only the
names) did you need to accommodate the concept of linear and non-linear systems
in your mind?
The following concepts must be incorporated into the linear and non-linear system
concepts:
a) Complexity,
b) Additivity,
c) Homogeneity
d) ,Continuity,
e) Rationality,
f) Differentiation,
g) Differential equation and
h) Recurrence relation.
2. What are the simplest linear system and non-linear system you can imagine?
Find the simplest linear and non-linear systems:
Linear system
4k + 2j = 1
2k+5j=6
Non-linear system
12k2+ 6j = 10
−2k2+4j=8
3. In your day to day, is there any occurring fact that can be interpreted as linear
systems and non-linear systems?
Non-linear equations can be used to solve the following problems:
1) Determine the microwave size by measuring the available space in the kitchen.
2) 2) In the garden, calculate the amount of space needed to create a small parking lot for a
car whose length is known.
Linear equations can be used to solve the situations of
Linear equations have one or more variables that are interdependent. When one or more
variables are known and at least one variable is dependent on the other, almost any situation
involving an unknown quantity, such as calculating mileage rates or predicting profit in small
businesses, can be represented by a linear equation. For example, if I know the cost of starting a
project and make x profit in the first month, I can forecast profits from month to month.
4. What strategy are you using to get the graph of linear systems and non-linear systems?
i. Non-linear system:
To obtain a graph of a nonlinear system, first graph the first equation, then graph the second
equation, and finally try to determine whether the line intersects are parallel or the same line by
sketching the various options for parabola and line intersection. Identify the solution and the
point of intersection if the lines intersect. If the lies are parallel, the system has no solution;
otherwise, the system has an infinite number of solutions.
ii. Linear system:
To generate a graph of a linear system, first determine the line's x-intercept. Then, with y=0,
solve for x, and with x=0, solve for y. Then solve the equation for a third time. Put the three
points together and make sure they line up so that you can draw the line.
