Aside from maintaining near-normal blood glucose levels for Diabetes Mellitus, nutrition therapy aims to achieve optimum serum lipid levels, maintain
desirable body weight (DBW), prevent complications, and improve the overall health of the diabetic. At the end of 3 hours, you should be able to plan a meal for a
person with Diabetes Mellitus and recommend a sample 1-day menu. Use the following diet prescription: Diet Rx 1600 kcal CHO 60% Protein 15% Fat 20%. Use
the previously given format, and submit a pdf file.

Kcal - 1600

Step 5. Distribute TEA


Carbs – 1600 x .60 = 1000
= 960 round off to the nearest 50
= 900 or 950 or 1000
Protein = 1600 x .15 = 250
= 240 round off to the nearest 50
= 200 or 250 or 300
Fat = 1600 x .20 = 350
= 320 round off to the nearest 50
= 300 or 350 or 400
So, if you add 1000 + 250 + 350, the sum would be 1600.
Step 6.
Carbs – 1000/4 = 250g
Protein – 250/4 = 60g
= 62.5 round off to the nearest 5
= 60 or 65 or 70
Fat – 350/9 = 40g
= 38.88 round off to the nearest 5
= 30 or 35 or 40
