SATELLITE COLLGE as your training center. I am very much happy for


choosing CapSU Dumarao as your training ground for cookery Qualification.
By the way I am JOYLYN MALECOSIO your accredited trainer for COOKERY
NC II.
Before to start our training may I request MS. GENELYN PAUYA please, to
lead the prayer.

This time we need to be energized so that we should be ready for today’s
activities. May I request Anamie to please lead the energizer.

To our new trainees, Lailyn, Lie Shane,and Frenmar, Please remain here at
the contextual learning area because I will bring the your old classmates to
the learning resource area. Please behave.

Here is your CBLM please read the information sheet 1.1-3 on preparing
sandwiches and answer the self cheak 1.1-3 and compare your answer to
the answer key 1.1-3 I will give you 1 hour to do the task and if you have
problem to the instruction pls don’t hesitate to ask me because I am very
much willing to help you.. Please answer the self check honesty. You may
start now.
CONTEXTUAL LEARNING AREA
Good morning TRAINEES. Again I am Joylyn Malecosio your trainer for
Cookery qualification, Thank you for choosing CapSU as your training Center.
I will assure you at end of this training you will be able to learn all the
competencies in this qualification and you will be competent for the
National Competency Assessment. All you have to do is to attend your
training religiously and do the task required in this qualification.
Before to start our orientation. Do you remember yesterday . We conducted
TNA or Training Need Anaysis, I gave to you questionnaire for trainee’s
characteristic, data gathering instrument and self assessment checklist. And
I have observe most of you are Kinesthetic and visual and based on your self
assessment checklist you are now competent in basic and common
competencies , that’s we may proceed to the core competencies.
We may continue now our orientation
I will present to you our Mission, vision and goals
Trainees are you familiar what is CBT
What is CBT stands for
CBT is competency based Training
It is an approach or method that I am going to use for you training. Since it is
individualized learning I assured at the end of this training you will acquire
skill knowledge and good attitude on the said qualification.
Again what is CBT stands for?
This time I will compare the traditional to CBT
Fist the traditional Most students enter at about the same time
It means in traditional you enroll the same month and you will graduate
same time. Example during your elementary,secondary even your college
time you enroll in June and you will graduate in March
While CBT the trainees enter in various times throughout the year it means
you can enroll anytime you can finish anytime, since it is individualized
learning it depends on your capacity if you fast learning you can finish early
2nd in traditional Students all cover the same material. It means you will be
given by your teacher the same materials. Like for example if the teacher
will teach room service the materials are only intended for the room service
While CBT DIFFERENT TRAINEES MAYBE TRAINED FOR DIFFERENT UNIT OF
COMPETENCY WITHIN THE SAME PROGRAM
It means the trainer teaches all the competencies therefore the materials is
ready to be used by the trainees. The trainees will get only the materials
that she/ he is needed for his competency that she is currently working on
because the trainer teaches different competencies. The trainer must be
multi skilled
3rd in traditional STUDENTS ALL PROCEED FROM ONE TOPIC TO THE NEXT AT
THE SAME TIME.It means the teacher will teach one topic whether the
student learned or not they will proceed to the next topic.
While CBT EACH TRAINEE MOVES ON THE NEXT TASK ONLY AFTER
MASTERING THE TASK HE OR SHE IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON. It means the
trainee will move to next task if he/she will master the competency. You
may proceed to the next task if you rated competent for the institutional
assessment.
4th in traditional THE INSTRUCTOR CONTROLS THE LEARNING PACE. It means
it is teacher centered
While CBT EACH TRAINEE PROGRESS AT HIS OR HER OWN PACE.it means
trainee’s centered because you the one who knows if you learn or not. And
you are also can decide if you are ready for institutional assessment
5th In traditional ALL STUDENTS ARE USUALLY TESTED AT ONCE. It means
that you are be given 1 assessment no re assessment
While CBT EACH TRAINEE IS TESTED WHEN READY TO DEMONSTRATE
MASTERY. It means the trainees were be given to chance to do task again for
mastery.

This time I will explain to you the principle of CBT so that you will familiar
my approach or method that im going to use for training
1st Principle The training is based on curriculum developed from the
competency standards. It means your training will be based on the Training
Regulation because TR is my bible in teaching you.
2nd Principle Learning is competency-based or modular in structure. As
trainer I am the one who prepare CBLM in FBS comprises of 6 core unit of
competencies if you choose core one you cannot proceed to the
competency if you will not competent first in the competency you are
working on. So you need first to undergo institutional assessment.
3rd principle Training delivery is individualized and self-paced. It means I am
teaching you individualized and it depends on your capacity to finish the
competency that you are working on
4th principle Training is based on work that must be performed. It means I
am teaching you based on the industry standard
5th principle Training materials are directly related to the competency
standards and the curriculum
Do you remember principle 1 that I am teaching based on the TR. So the
training materials that we are going to use are based on the TR. So that it
will standard.
6th principle Assessment of learners is based in the collection of evidences
of work performance based on industry or organizational required standards
Since it is individualized learning you are required to undergo institutional
assessment to check you underpinning knowledge and skills. I need to
collect evidences like written test, demonstration and oral question which is
anchored to the industry standard.
7th principle Training is based both on and off the job components. You
training is dual system school base and industry based. When you say off the
job the training will be on the school while on the job the training will be on
the industry
8th principle The system allows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The CBT
training we recognize your prior learning. Example if you have experience in
hotel as room service attendant. I will recognize you prior learning but you
need to prove to me that you know the said competency I will be conducting
to you an institutional assessment if you are rated competent. You can
proceed to the next competency. Theres is no repetition of training if you
are competent
9th principle The system allows for learners to enter and exit programs at
different times and levels and to receive an award for competencies
attained at any point’
It means multi entry and multi exit. Like for example you are 4 new enrolles
it doesn’t mean you were the same to finish your training it depends on
your capacity. And if you ready for institutional assessment please tell me so
that I will schedule you for institutional assessment and if you were rated
competent will receive an award which is certificate of achievement.Every
Competency you will be given certificate of achievement as your award for
being competent.
10th principle Approved training programs are nationally accredited
Our training center is accredited by the UTPRAS Unified TVET Program
Registration and Accreditatin System
This time I will explain to you my role and responsibility as trainer
I am your teacher. I will teach to become skillful, knowledgeable and good
attitude toward the qualification
I am the negotiator. I will be one to negotiate to the industry partner where
you will under your ojt.`

I am the coordinator. I will be the one to coordinate the Assessment center


regarding assessment schedules and requirements.
I am the session planner. I will be the one to prepare session plan to be used
in your training as my guide to teach you.
I am curriculum developer. I will be the one to develop curriculum using the
TR
I am the actor.I will stand as role model. Because I will demonstrate first the
task and you will follow
I am the Instructional material developer. I will the one to develop the
instructional material like CBLM, powerpoint presentation and video
presentation to be used in your training
I am the counselor. I am the one motivates you to finish the training on time
I am the facilitator. I am the one facilitates your needs for your training
This juncture I will explain to you your role and responsibility as trainees
Decides on when ready to demonstrate. It means you have given the right
to decide to demonstrate if you are ready.
Competes against industry standard. It means you will learn industry
standard. You will not to compete to your co- trainees.
Evaluate own performance and progress at own rate. It means you must be
able to know your progress and you can rate own performance using the
self-check and answer key and task/job sheet and performance criteria
checklist
Request to receive credits on what they know. It means you have the right
to avail RPL if you have probed that you are competent you will receive
certificate of achievement. That is the time I will credit your RPL
Moves freely in the workshop. It means you are free and enjoy using
workstation as long you will not disturb your co trainees
Select on what competency to start. It means you are free to choose what
competency you are going to learn as long the qualification has no
prerequisite
Work and ask help with other. It means you can ask help with your co
trainees, You must practice team work.

What CBLM stands for


Competency Based Learning Material is reading material used in CBT in
traditional they were called as TEXTBOOK.
As a trainer I am the one who prepares the CBLM for your training it has
detailed instructions to guide through the learning process.

CONTEXTUAL LEARNING AREA Where I conducted the orientation and teach
you the basic and common competencies
LEARNING RESOURCE AREA known as the small library where you can find
other reference regarding the FBS qualification.
COMPUTER LABORATORY AREA. Is place where we view the video
presentation and teach you the basic computer operation like word, excel
and powerpoint presentation
PRACTICAL WORK AREA. Where you can find facilities tools and material.
Where I will demonstrate the task and you will re turn demo
INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT AREA. Where I conducted RPL through
institutional assessment to check your underpinning knowledge and skill
SUPPORT SERVICE AREA. This area where you will learn added skill which is
not found on this qualification
QUALITY CONTROL AREA This area where I check your output whether
competent or not yet competent
TRAINER’S AREA. This place where I prepare all CBT documents and where
you can find TR
DISTANCE LEARNING AREA. This place where you can find set of computer
with internet conections
EVALUATION SYSTEM
I conducted institutional assessment to check the underpinning skills and
knowledge. And we use 3 methods like written test , demonstration and oral
question
I used 2 monitoring tools
Achievement chart I will update your achievement if done the specific task
like for example you have answered the self-checked, answered the oral
question satisfactorily and demonstrated the atsk/job sheet and compared
to performance criteria checklist
Progress Chart. I will update your progress chart after you done institutional
assessment;
Any question regarding CBT if none you may go home now and come back
tomorrow for the proper training. God bless you.

you don’t understand the specific instruction don’t hesitate to approach me
because I am very much willing to translate to your language that you can
understand.
Here is the written test please read the instruction carefully I will give you 20
minutes. It is multiple choice and passing score is 18
Next you will demonstrate on how to take table reservation
While you are performing the task I will be rated you using the
demonstration checklist
