RESEARCH TITLE:

SEMI-STRUCTURED INTERVIEW GUIDE


Part I: Introduction

GoodHoly! We are the Third-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) students of Holy
Trinity College (HTC).
This present study will look into your PERCEPTIONS OF STUDENTS ON USING ENGLISH
NOVELS AS PROFICIENCY ENHANCER.
In order for you to be guided, please let me introduce to you the purpose of our research and
the importance that will be gathered during the interview.
This study aimed to understand the perceptions of students on using English Novels as
proficiency enhancers. It also gave the College of Teacher Education idea to adopt novels as part of
English proficiency.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions if you have doubts or a need to clarify something.
However, if you want to refuse to answer any of the given questions, then it will be highly respected.

As a preliminary procedure, this paper respects the confidentiality of your identity. As so, we
would like to know how you want us to address you by name.

Part II: House Rules for Interview Session

Each participant of this study will be requested to observe the following rules before, during, and
after the interview session.
1. If you have personal needs, kindly attend to it prior to the interview process.
2. You may turn off your cellular phone or have it in silent mode to avoid being distracted.
3. Feel free to ask questions if the question/s is/are not clear to you to avoid misunderstanding or
misinterpretations.
4. Since your answers serve as the soul of the research, please be honest or religious with your
answers for the given questions.
5. At the end of the interview, you will be given opportunity to review your responses as recorded. If
you believe everything is correct within your knowledge, I will be asking you to accomplish and sign
the “Participant’s Verification Form”. (please provide this, teachers)

Part IV: Closing

for transcription, theme identification, and analysis. After the transcription is finished, we will be
sending to your emails your personal copy for verification of your responses. If you have something to
add or change or wish to remove from the data, we will respectfully follow and make some
